It is the last building that was kept as a building after 200 days of figth between Red Army and Hitler's Army. All around was erased from the Map of the City.

Left standing as an image of the former Stalingrad. The grounds were not open to the public, but easy photos from street level. The statue of the children dancing around the crocodile is in the foreground.

This is really part of the Panorama museum rather a stand alone attraction. Plus you can only see it from a bit of a distance rather experience it from up close. One could imagine setting up a part of the building as a small museum of how it might have looked like inside. For children in particular this would make... More

Probably the only chance to see what a small part of Volgograd looked like after the great battle. This eerie building from an age long gone is surrounded by modern architecture and this helps to make it standout even more. Stunning to see and touch. The mass of bullet holes and bomb damage is shocking.

This flour mill is a very symbolic place of Volgograd. You can see it on my souvenirs and postcards. You are not allowed to go inside, but you can come close at one of its side. The mill looks very powerful and holds the history in itself.

Russian soldiers stayed and protected this house against Germans long time during 2nd world war. This Stalingrad battle was one of the biggest 3 battles between USSR and Germany. This ruined place is just next of the 'Stalingrad panorama'.

Construction at this site finished in time for the May holidays, and visitors are able to walk fairly close to the ruins. It's called Dom Pavlova, House of Pavlov. It's very cool to walk right up to this structure's skeleton and peer inside. You might be able to learn more about it if you take a tour with the Panorama... More
