Not too big, not too small, nicely renovated for 2014 Olympics. Labels are in Russian but items are often self-explainable. English written guide may be available. Staff is very caring of their Sochi History and will try to make your visit enjoyable. Covers Antiquity to Space Age, honest treatment of terrible Soviet era when this was the public face of the "Worker's Paradise".

Well worth a visit. The museum showcases the history of the area and city from ancient till modern times. Lots of different exhibits which help make history come to live.

We took a private tour. The guide told us everything very interestingly. You could ask questions. Only positive emotions! I recommend!

They could have done better to represent the region in the museum, well we did not try the audio guide which is probably a good job, while facing the exposition we could tell the minerals and the animal that live there, very little on its people, a few bits on Russia`s participation in WW2 and the space room which hosts the most interesting exhibit of 1975. Worth a short visit on a hot or rainy day, 200 rubles adult entry and free for kids under 7 y.o. We may have missed something they hide on the top floor, i guess they hold some temporary exhibitions as well
