Great Russian writer

Fodor Dostoyevsky is one of the great Russian writers. He lived between 1821-1881. He wrote many great books, including crime and punishment. His bust is located at the intersection Of Krasy Prospekt, and the street named after him, Dostoyevsky street. This area is probably easiest reached by taking the subway to Krasny Prospekt, and walking north for 10 minutes. Care should be taken when visiting the monument, as it is located on a pathway in a small park in the middle of the street. We were disappointed with the appearance of the monument, as brown tiles were cracked or missing at the base. The story of Dostoyevsky is quite interesting, as he was arrested and ordered executed for reading and distributing anti-monarchy literature. At the point of execution, his sentence was overturned, and he was imprisoned in a gulag in nearby Omsk for a few years, and then transferred to Kazakhstan, where he completed his sentence. These difficult life experiences left an indelible mark on Dostoyevsky, as his writings usually relate to the psychological struggles of the characters, which may involve dark thoughts and actions. We had recently visited Semey, Kazakhstan and viewed the Dostoyevsky House Museum, where he lived for a short time, during his five years of forced military service. We had also visited Omsk which has two monuments dedicated to him. In Moscow, there is a house museum and subway station named after him, which has beautiful reliefs from his famous books. Nearby attractions include the Gogol monument, Ascension Cathedral and Narymskiy Park, which has interesting monuments.
