Broad Soviet square over looking river. Summer outdoor cafes & food stands for al-fresco eating. No English anywhere, so be prepared to point & gesture. Lovely fountain honoring Siberian Rivers is only thing worth seeking out.

With sparkling fountains, this square is a great place to have a rest in the summer, and in winter it is turned into an ice city with ice fortresses and ice scukptures. Well worth a visit even in cold weather. Within walking distance is ulitsa Mira, one of the oldest and most picturesque streets of Krasnoyarsk, and the Yenisey river.

What an amazing place to visit in winter! Beautiful ice statues, huge Christmas tree with spectacular lighting, little market to buy sashlik, decorated horse carriages, locals strolling around, kids sliding down ice slides, Yenisei river covered with vapour, Genadij the cloud along the embankment... Ah, those Russians know how to make this crazy cold bearable :-)

The whole reason for the visit to this city was the geocache in this square. It didn't dissappoint, a lovely square with benches to rest ones tired feet. I should imagine in winter it would not be so inviting to sit for too long :)
