Me and my travel mate visited Stolby with a local guide named Pawel in the Winter. The nature is just amazing and very fascinating rock formations. The Stolby it's a must see when you are in Krasnoyarks. Its just a 20 min bus ride away from the city.

I have been to many places in the world but nothing is so magnificent as this national park. After you've seen these amazing mountains and rocks and Siberian taiga you really feel that Life is Beautiful!
You should see it!

Take bus 37 (22rub) to Bobovry Log then take chairlift uphill(270rub - roundtrip) Walk left to the Takmak rock (Blue line) for 1 KM (can picnic at the rock for lunch) / walk right for 7 KM following the yellow line then take bus 50 (run till 10pm) back to the town
For me I walked left to picnic at the Takmak rock, i sat there for like 30 minutes then a squirrel came to me. I then walked back to the cabin spot then continue going straight following the yellow line on the tree, this path is 7 km walking down the hill then you can take bus 50. It was too muddy because of the snow last night so i gave up half way and walked back to the cabin to get down. So i would recommend you to just walk to the viewpoint which is not faraway and then walk back to the cabin if you dont have much time. Then take bus 37 back to the town.
Time:
- i took almost 1 hour slowly walk to the Takmak rock
- picnic and enjoy with a squirrel for 1 hour
- another 40 minutes walking back to the cabin car
- 2 more hour trying to following the yellow line
- if just walking to the viewpoint, i guess it's only 30 minutes so from the cabin walking there and back would take you 1 hour.
NOTE:
- no food selling up there, better prepare from the city
- late autumn, beginning of winter. Kind of muddy path and windy
- prepare nuts for squirrel because i tried to give other food, but it didn't interested in.
- try to get a walking stick if you decide to take the yellow path

Stolby Rock Mountains reserve park with forests really great place to visit. You will feel a very strong emotions when you climbed to the one of the "stolb" rock hills and will see a wonderful Siberian landscape which impressed you deeply! It's an UNESCO heritage site. Ideal place for sport active tourism! Please prepare light jacket in case of rain/wind, comfort pants and shoes for long distance walking and climbing to up way. Also take a lunch-box and drinks with you in case don't find appropriate food and long heavy trip. 3-4 hours is approximate tour to "Stolby" natural park.

Without a doubt this park one of the most beautiful places in Russia.
One should be ready for 2 hour 6km uphill walk.
Interesting to walk alone and to enjoy spectacular sceneries along the path.
Sweet and refreshing scents of the Taiga - Siberian forest.
Calming sound of the creek nearby.
And finally almighty rocks called Stolbi. Adored by enthusiastic climbers from all over the world.
Take a companion and this will be the place for chats and all kind of discussions.
The word of precaution: lyme ticks – from late May until mid-August I would strongly recommend to stay on paths and not to venture in the forest.
I would highly recommend Stolbi for all.

First of all, this place is for those who like nature and are in normal shape. You should plan a complete day for this and lots of walking. The variety of rock formations and the primeval feeling here is simply amazing. The legend says that the rocks were formed when giants threw them around in previous ages. There are 2 ways to see it but almost no one has seen everything. By taking the ski resort, you can see, what I call "lower Stolby". You'll take the ski lift and probably won't see as many rocks, but it's a bit easier and you can see "Takmak" which is the big rock seen from almost anywhere in Krasnoyarsk. The 2nd way ("upper Stolby' as I call it) is by walking up (about 8 km) to the 1st, 2nd rocks etc. This way is more difficult but you will probably see more rocks as they're closer together here. In the main area of Stolby there are more than 35 rock formations including upper and lower but you won't be able to see all. Most people manage 6 a day at most. However, with careful planning and a guide or map, and not going at a leisurely pace, you could see more. I feel that Stolby is an absolute must see for those visiting Krasnoyarsk. It's my favorite place and a great place to have a picnic lunch; in summer or winter. Of note, they have done some major upgrading of the facilities since I was last there.

Hello,
Is it possible to visit it alone without a guide in winter? Easy / not dangerous? Thank you in advance!

Written February 9, 2020
It's easy to go up by chairlift and after that you have a restaurant with a 360° panorama view. After that you can make a easy short walk around the nice rock formations. It's definitively worth to go up with an child, specially when the weather is nice, than you have spectacular views.

How do you get to Stolby from Krasnovarsk by bus? What bus number if there is one and where does it depart from?
Written May 16, 2019
We were luckily with our Russian family who drove us there.
I would think the best way would be by taxi, although there may well be better public transport in the summer months when there will be more visitors.
Sorry I couldn’t be more helpful, but have a great time in Krasnoyarsk.

Hello, do you have any idea how to get there using public transport? Thanks for any ideas.

How can you get there using public transportation from the center of the city ?
Thank you!
Written June 22, 2016
We took bus 5 from the centre and changed somewhere (don't remember the name of the stop) to go on bus 19. Here maps is a good app which will indicate the right busses to take. Don't be afraid to ask locals as well, they really help a lot and they all know it. Good luck and good visit

Written April 3, 2016

Would it be recommended for a family (with teenage kids) to tour it without a guide?
Thanks!
Written November 15, 2015
Absolutely. It's a nice hike up top and then the boys could climb around rocks of various difficulties. Make sure they are not too brave as help is quite far. Girls can brave some rocks too. On top of all the climbing activities you can definitely enjoy the scenery. All this applies for summer. Not quite sure about winter but there should be a quite good ski resort as I've heard. That would make it an all year round 'yes' for the whole family.
