The Museum of Soviet Life is unique is Russia. I've travelled around many Russian cities and I can say that this one brings a different aspect of the URSS, which I couldn't find in other museums.

I was expecting a bit of a history lesson but none of that here. It is really just a collection of typical soviet era products and artefacts like clothes, toys, coins, medals, a uniform or two, some womens products and a lot of pins most...More

The museum was nice to look around for a few minutes and it was also cheap at 250 rubles for entry. However, I thought it was not worth more than just a quick stop. The collection was not ordered well and wasn't particularly well related...More

It was kind of neat seeing all of the old Soviet clothing, pictures, etc. The stuff is primarily from the 1960’s and 70’s. It’s probably better for Russians than foreigners, however.

Great place to go for an hour to take a look at objects from the Soviet Era. Also possible to buy a few good souvenirs to take home, some from the 70s/80s.

Unique place, but not a museum to me. There is an entry fee, but large parts of all the objects on display are for sale. I’d call this a wildly decorated tourist shop. An overwhealming amount of disordered Soviet “stuff” might be evocative to people...More

I liked the concept so I went but a "museum" it isn't. More some guy's collection of guitars signed by bands with some old toys, cigarrette packets, jackets, pins, gum wrappers..No explanations to help you understand "Soviet Life." Amazingly, some of the toys were the...More

Loved every minute it's of my time in this wonderful museum. An eclectic collection of the minutiae that made up life in Soviet times. You really could spend hours looking at all the curios, austere children's toys, antique video games, old cosmetics, sweets and drinks,...More

Stopped past and stepped back in time. Great collection of retro items that are really well displayed, the guy who worked there was super friendly. We spent about half an hour there.

A very over rated. If your into Kitsch you'll be happy. Small space and no rhyme or reason to the lay out.

Well worth the 250 roubles entrance fee to see how life was like behind the Iron Curtain. A hands-on museum covering a couple of floors gives you the opportunity to try on old uniforms, clothes and hats and to see how life was like during...More
