Difficult to find and we never got in although we walked through pouring rain. Seems to be an issue here as three museums were shut despite researching in advance

The audio guide is great and the apartment is fascinating if you are a fan of Akhmatova. No one else there, very much off the beaten track, so quite cool.

A very interesting look at the where ordinary Russian lived aand the conditions that they lived on. The staff are very helpful and there are sheets in English which explain the various rooms. You have to enter a courtyard at the back of no 53...More

For people who are interested in Anna Akhmatova, poets during the USSR, and those who want to catch a glimpse into a palace-turned soviet apartment, this is an interesting place to go. There are packets of information in each room in several languages and plenty...More

Two huge red cats who think they own the place are the best part of it, if they bother to notice you. Pay special attention to the furniture and things in the appartment itself - all this is a genuine part of Russian everyday life.
