We went on a canal boat ride on the various waterways around St. Petersburg. It was chilly but the boat provided warm blankets. This is a great way to see all the areas around St. Petersburg which is often called the Venice of the North....More

As long as you are at the Hermitage, enjoy the Neva River Embankment. But better to take a canal boat ride that will take you out to the river and around. Then you will see St.P buildings behind the embankment.

There are a lot of vehicles, high-speed boats (Hydrofoils) running on the Neva River. Hydrofoil runs from St. Petersburg to Peterhof and these tour boats are referred as "Meteors". I didn't try them out, unfortunately. However. Next time could be pleasure vehicle ride.

The Neva Embankments has a lot of Saint Petersburg residents around. We took a canal boat through the embankments. It's all a really beautiful area with stately buildings.

Yes there are. I did the Neva river and canal trip, (twice - thanks to Mr.Putin's state visit). We should have done the Aurora trip, but it was cancelled because Putin was there.
