It's a wonderful walk across the bridge to get here and totally worth the journey. While the memorial sign strelka is interesting, it would be the panorama of the Neva river that stops you. The waterfront awards its visitors expansive views back towards the Hermitage side. A great photo opportunity.

Picturesque view of gigantic old buildings by the sea and the sceneries of the opposite island is fantastic.

This spot DOES provide a good view of the river and St.P across the river. But not so convenient to reach. IF you plan on taking a canal boat ride, the boat will come out to approximately the same place so you can enjoy the changing view in comfort.

Next to all the churches, museums, and statues, this is such a different but cool memorial! It looks like something of Poseidon. Was very cool to see these signs up-close - the enbankment, crossing the bridge, and beautiful view of for example the first ever museum in St Petersburg make it such a fun mission to come out here.

That was our second trip across the Neva River, after that to Hare Island with the Peter and Paul Fortress. Here on the Vasilievskiy Island, which is the greatest island at the mouth of Neva in Baltic Sea or in Finland Bay, there are many historical places to go to and take the pictures. Strelka of Vasilievskiy Island ( Ostrov)... More

Nice place for a walk around. You can sit on a bench and enjoy the view on the Neva river. Across the river you can see the Peter and Paul Fortress.

Spent a nice afternoon walking along the bank of the Neva river, taking photos of the city, the fortress and boats.

The Spit of the Basil Island ("the Strelka of Vasilevsky Island") is the unique place in St.Petersburg full of historical points and legends. Visiting this place during private guided city tour in St.Petersburg will give you all the impressions and details. The Rostral Columns were built in 1810 according to the project of the French architect Thomas de Tomon who... More

The building across the street is the Old Stock Exchange and it is Neptune on the roof, symbolising Maritime importance for St Petersburg. The Rostral Columns have figures to symbolising four major Russian rivers (Dnieper, Neva, Volga and Volkhov), two in each. On rare occasions, a fire is lit on the top of them.
