Great space to just stand and take in all the beautiful architecture. Easy to find and lots of space not too crowders. Perfect for photography.

Winter Palace of the Czars. A lot of it was built as a monument after the Russian victories over Napoleon. You can't miss the red granite Alexander Column in the center of the square. It is so tall and heavy that there is no base...More

Not a big deal just walk through when going to the winter palace and Hermitage. Full of people dressed in Russian oligarch style and sadly horse carriages rentals. That's should be forbidden!

Like in Paris or London and many other Cities Palace Square ,as the name suggests has a Palace around it and is a bustling central place in St.Petersburg. Appears majestic and very attractive with added bonus of Hermitage Museum being located on its Western side.

Would like to go in on our next visit, but we still really enjoyed walking around the outside on our waljing tour, and taking many unique photos. Love the history, and so glad I got to see it!

Vast and sprawling plaza near the Hermitage Museum. Impressive in size while screaming undertones of power and strength.

An enormous palazzo surrounded by impressive baroque architecture with The Hermitage Museums on 2 sides. Largest single piece of red granite column in center with angelic face of Czar Nicholas Il. Gathering place for tourists and concert venue for locals. Sometimes used for state parades....More
