We were very satisfied with this two day tour of St Petersburg.
Our guide, Ada, was very informative. She was especially good as an art guide in the Hermitage museum.

My friend and I did a full-day Peterhof and Catherine Palace tour with Guide Guru on 15 October 2016. Natalia made the whole booking process from Australia so easy, she was quick to reply to my few... ok many queries and was so patient with me.

I was still a bit nervous with what to expect, especially since my friend and I were in St Petersburg for the first time and we were on our own (mid 20's). I also have to admit that the website is not your usual fancy ad-bearing page, but it has everything you need and everything is great hands and is definitely the best pricing out there. Inna was our guide for the day and was on time and out the front of the hotel with a huge smile, she was just as excited to meet us as we were her. Her English was perfect and we had no trouble talking (in fact we couldn't stop talking about everything..our poor driver), she is very knowledgeable and was happy to go into as much detail as we wanted.. and we love history. She went out of her way to make sure we got the most out of our trip not only with the tour of the Peterhof and Catherine Palace (both stunning and magical - recommending to everyone) but the city of St Petersburg as well. You'd think all the good stuff would end there but no, Inna surprised us some more and found enough time to take us to a souvenir shop and helped us find little treasure spots around the city (where to go to get the best pictures and view of the city, where to get great coffee, even down to what prices we should expect to pay taxi's). In short, Inna is beyond wonderful.

For the people that read this review the fountains were still running at the Peterhof Palace (on 15 October 2016) and it was magnificent, if you are undecided on whether to do it or not, DON'T miss it, you will cry.... Seriously. You can easily spend a day in the palace and gardens alone, Catherine Palace was equally beautiful and amazing (so much to see and learn). But if you are like us and are time restricted you can see both the Catherine and Peterhof Palace in 1 day, just listen to Inna and you will have a great time and see everything and a little more. (definitely recommend the private tour, for the extra few ($20 i think) it is worth it.

We are very happy clients and want everyone to know how fantastic the company is. We fell in love with St Petersburg (Inna just made it more wonderful) and are already planning another trip for 2018.

We booked a two-day tour with Guide Guru while our cruise ship was in port in St. Peterburg. Ada was our guide and Slava, our driver. Ada was a wealth of information! Her English was perfect and she knew everything about historic to present day St. Petersburg. Guide Guru worked with our group to customize our tour, including a very special visit to a children's hospice my sister's church supports. When we had extra time at the end, Slave made it his mission to find my son an authentic Russian soccer scarf. He succeeded! They both were pleasant, professional, knowledgeable and just a pleasure to spend two days with. We saw and learned so much about St. Petersburg in just two days. I wish I could remember all the fascinating stories Ada told us. Without hesitation, I would highly recommend this tour!!

What a great experience! We were a bit nervous taking a plane & train from St. Pete. to Moscow, but the service could not have been better! They took care of every detail. Our tour guide in Moscow (Arsen) was superb - very well educated and his love for the history evident. Same goes for our guide the next day in St.Petersburg (Olla). Highly recommended.

We had a wonderful time at St Petersburg. Our guide Marina is extremely helpful and informative - she explains everything in details and we are very impressed. The driver, Alexander, is also very friendly and helpful.

As three solo travelers we were slightly hesitant to do St. Petersburg on our own. After much research into different guide companies in St. Petersburg we decided on Guide-Guru. What a great decision. All of the correspondences with Natalia prior to arrival were prompt and thorough. We decided on the intensive two day tour and Natalia was even able to accomidate our time since we were arriving on the train from Helsinki after the time the usual tours began.

While in St. Petersburg we were lucky enough to have Maria as our English speaking tour guide. She was fabulous. She had great knowledge of every place on the tour. It was really nice to have her as our tour guide in every museum and palace as opposed to having a different guide at each place.

Guide Guru thought of everything with our package. The price we paid covered the guide, driver and admission tickets. Made things really easy.

We are so happy with our decision to tour St. Petersburg with Guide-guru!!!

My wife Elizabeth and I arrived in St. Petersburg for two days on August 26 on a Baltic cruise. We used Guide Guru for a 2-day tour, the first day in Moscow, and the second in St. Petersburg. After much research, we decided to book our tours through Guide Guru after seeing other great reviews on TripAdvisor.com. We were not disappointed. Natalia was a pleasure to work with, gathering all of our details prior to our arrival to ensure a seamless passage through Russian passport control. Our first day was a long one, as traveling to Moscow was a four hour train ride each way. We were met by a woman named Ana at the port who stayed with us until we were comfortably seated in our seats on the train. The train is definitely the way to go, as we were told by other passengers that the airport in Moscow was an hour outside of the city, and traffic can be very bad. The train was very fast and smooth. It had a bistro car which served food and drinks to make the journey fly by. Our guide in Moscow, Anatoly, was a wealth of knowledge and made our day something we will never forget. He took us on the metro, which is a sight to see and we spent plenty of time seeing Red Square, the Kremlin, St. Basil's Cathedral and more before making our way to the University of Moscow, which has an overlook with a breathtaking view of the entire city. The four hour train ride back to St. Petersburg was a great place to rest after a very long day (we arrived at our ship at approximately 1 AM). The next day we were met by our guide, whose name is Tatiana. She took us to Catherine's Palace, the Hermitage Museum, the Church of our Savior on Spilled Blood and an extensive tour of the city. We had lunch at a small Russian cafe which was much needed as a break before our time at the Hermitage. This was one of the best tour experiences that we have had. It was private, just my wife and I, and we had very nice vehicles and drivers on both days. I highly recommend Guide Guru if you find yourself in St. Petersburg.

Although I have taken this tour over a year in May, 2014, I can't resist to write about this wonderful experience we had. I was recommended this Guide-Guru tour by our friend and then communicated with Natalia for information and reservation via email. We just provided our passport information to Natalia and she emailed each of us a tour ticket before the trip. We used this tour ticket in place of Russia Visa along with our passport to go through the Russia custom. It freed us from Visa application process and fee. The best part was that we were not required to make any deposit for this tour until the 2nd day tour on the coach.
After we went through the custom at the cruise terminal, Natalia and the tour guide Tatiana were waiting for us. Tatiana was very knowledgeable about each attraction and she was very friendly. The 2 days tour included all the must see attractions in St. Petersburg, but I enjoyed the river/canal cruise and subway station very much. It was very relaxing in cruising the river/canal and looked at the beautiful city from different angles. The subway stations were beautiful decorated with art pieces. I have to praise Tatiana for getting all 28 of us through the crowd with transfers in between stations. It was very exciting and fun. The local cuisine lunches also included in this 2 day tour and we enjoyed the authentic Russia food and the restaurants.

After checking on tripadvisor as to private guides in St. Petersburg I came across guideguru.
All the reviews about this company were great so I decided to send them an email. Natalia the program Director got back to me promptly with an price of the tour that I requested. A few emails later we had settled on a price and day. This was payable on the day and covered admisson to the Hermitage
Julia our English speaking guide for the day, was absolutely wonderful. We did a 2hr city walking tour first then a 2hr Hermitage tour. Without her excellent local knowledge we would had seen but not understood the history behind everything that we saw. Having a private tour meant we could spend more time at certain things that interested us more without being hurried up. We would have got lost in The Hermitage without her! We even sat down for morning tea at her local favourite coffee shop.

We visited Russia after a package tour with 40 travelling companions through the Balkans (not booked through Guide Guru) where our "local experts" were a hit and miss affair. In Moscow and St Petersburg we were travelling solo and had arranged guides and tours through Guide Guru. There was no 'miss' with the two guides, only 'hits'. Both were fabulous people, and exceeded our expectation.

In both cases, initially we were being given the formal 'guided tour' but when you sit down and have lunch with a stranger and chat, you get a better understanding about who they are and the local culture, the local foods, and to some extent, what they think. This is, after all, what international travel is all about.

Their language ability, and knowledge was excellent, in both cases. The sightseeing was at a pace to suit us, and the guide was quite willing to adjust the tour to include a last minute request by us.

In both cases, when we said goodbye after three days of sightseeing (in both cities), it was like saying goodbye to a friend.

The tour arrangement were hassle free, and our emails were quickly responded to.

Would I use them again? Absolutely, without a doubt.
