Charming Private Evening at The Hermitage Museum

This is a unique evening tour that only operates on the days when the Hermitage is open later (until 9:00PM). There are typically no crowds during this time, which allows guests to see rooms and art that tourists typically don't get a chance to see during the day tour.

This tour is at a much more relaxed pace than guests typically get to experience, allowing for more opportunities to ask questions and enjoy what the Hermitage Museum and Winter Palace have to offer.

I wanted to give a present to help my in-laws celebrate their anniversary on a Baltic cruise, so I decided to book them a private shore excursion of St. Petersburg with a Mandarin speaking tour guide. The planning process was very easy, I received an itinerary proposal and made some changes to fit my in-law's interests. Tom, who helped me with planning the trip, was extremely patient and considerate. My in-laws absolutely loved their tour! They said that their private tour guide, Mila, made their tour unforgettable. She shared stories about all places that they visited and kept them entertained, without wearing them out. They really appreciated that she took good care of them. Among other things, she brought them to the elevators, whenever they were available to make things easy for them. Mila was very patient and personable with them, and she was able to answer any questions that they had. Needless to say, my in-laws were extremely pleased with their gift. I hope that I get to travel to St. Petersburg one day, so that I may also tour St. Petersburg with Mila!

This was a great tour with Alla. The food was great and the portions generous. It was approximately 3 hours. My friends and I are from Australia and were keen to try some Russian food while here. There were 3 food stops, as well as a stop at a Russian delicatessen, Eliseyev Emporium, full of sweets, cheeses and meats in a beautiful old building. At the first food stop we ate Russian pies/pastry as well as Borscht and tea. The second stop was beef stroganoff, different types of pickled vegetables, rye bread and Kvass. The third stop was dessert of pancakes, a range of jams, various Russian treats and tea. Alla was engaging and provided information about the history of the food we ate as well as pointing out landmarks between stops. She also gave us recipes, and wrote down some names of other Russian food to try on our trip. She also gave us a map for St. Petersburg metro - which is really handy if, like us, you plan to use the metro a lot while here. In all, it was a great tour with delicious food. I would highly recommend this tour if you are interested in eating some Russian food with a local while in Saint Petersburg.

Our small 2 day St Petersburg tour was led by Mila. This was certainly the highlight of our Baltic Cruise. Mila is a PHD candidate at University of Oregon. Her English language skills and diction made Mila easy to understand and comprehend all the facts that Mila has stored in memory. Her knowledge of The Hermitage and other sites is amazing and her personality just adds to the experience. I have been on many tour excursions and this was by far the most informative and enjoyable. Bravo Mila.

We had a fantastic 2 day private tour of many of St Petersburg and Novgorod’s amazing sites. Our tour guide Alla and our driver Yuri were everything we could have wished for. Alla’s English was perfect and her knowledge of culture, history, art was amazing. By the end of the tour we regarded her as our friend rather than our guide.

After an exhilarating but exhausting day on a large group tour of Moscow we were ready for a more private and customized tour of St. Petersburg. We booked with Experience Russia for our family of 3. Alla was just perfect! Touring with her was one of the highlights of our vacation and the day was one we will never forget. We were able to bypass the long lines which gave us more time to enjoy the awesome city sites. Alla is a retired teacher and her knowledge of the city, history, culture, art, and iconography along with a good teacher’s ability to adapt to our needs made our time in St. Petersburg both educational and a lot of fun. At the end of the tour we felt we had family in St. Petersburg and we look forward to visiting again soon.
