What a great place! This museum is organized as a place to explain various facets of evolutionary theory including but not limited to, sexual dimorphism, microevolution, and population genetics. There are many samples of various species. I am a professor of evolutionary psychology and wish I could take my students here to teach them about evolution in a tangible way.

It's a 4-story building housing permanent collection and 6-story exposition center with temporary exhibits. We spent 5 hours there and still did not see everything! Great collection of animals with an emphasis on natural variation within each group as a result of regional adaptation. Kids really liked to see animals from genetic experiments showing inheritance of traits by offspring. We also liked "Walk the path of evolution" interactive exposition, which looks like a labyrinth stretching from 400 million years ago to modern days.

Interesting permanent exhibition centered in the evolution of the species. Quite old-fashioned. A good place to take the kids.

A good try with some unique stuffed animals and a few curious displays (sharks teeth!). But overall, it needs a big updating. The temporary exhibits seem hand-made and the resident exhibits are worn and dated. No narrative to explain well the theories (in any language). Layout is not intuitive so you have to ask directions for a specific room. Packed with school kids and unfriendly docents. Apathetic cafe and science museum gift shop. Needs attention and funding to modernize.

I visit this museum today and to tell the truth maybe is ne of the worst that i have ever visit in all my trips.
As per my title I am sure that nothing better can be given to this so called museum.
The only positive is that is near metro station.
Negatives many...
Places in an old Soviet building not organised at all.
No signs where to enter. Ofcourse no english signs. Only english were in exit sign like saying us why you came, go now.
Staff very boring old and without interest, ofcourse no word about english and very rude. Please change the staff.
According to exhibition a total chaos, only if you new russian because there were n english even for the toilets.
Apart from the items that had no interest at all there where everywhere bad quaity of paintings.
Toilets had no light at all.
I stayed there only 15 minutes and i paid around 6 euros which was way to much for this thing. If i new it i would have paid only 6 cents and still there are a lot.
People there are not interested.
Just dont go and waste time and money.

Dear TasosAnth, Thank you for giving us feedback on your experience with our museum. We're so sorry that you had trouble finding signs in English, which made it difficult for you to understand the permanent exhibition and navigate through our museum. We understand how frustrating that must have felt. We are constantly working on ensuring there are duplicate navigation signs as well as information about every exhibition hall and floor plan in English for foreign visitors. Showcases labels are as well written in Russian, Latin and English. We also have a stand at the main entrance with leaflets in 23 languages (including in English and in Greek), providing information about our museum and the permanent exhibition. We apologize for not ensuring properly functioning light in the restroom. Most likely you were unlucky to visit the facility at the moment, when the staff was fixing the problem. This should have never happened. Again, accept our apologies for the inconveniences caused. We appreciate you taking the time to send us this helpful response.

The museum is good but there's a lot of things you have to pay extra for an also a lot of the signs are only in Russian. it is a nice way to spend the time if it's raining though.

The museum offers a variety of options as every natural sciences museum. The animal section is very big and offers a huge selection of wild cats, wolfs, foxes, rabbits, etc. for toddlers and young children. There is a very well designed interactive exhibition about history of earth. We did not have time to see all, but there is also a floor dedicated to earth, a 3D show and temporary expositions. 2 cafeterias with big selection of food at affordable prices.

Not the easiest of places to find, and could do with a facelift on the outside. But once inside the building, it had a wealth of very good exhibits.
