It can be hard to see the highlights of Moscow in a day or two, but this hop-on hop-off City Sightseeing open-top bus tour makes it easy and convenient. Take in views of the city while listening to recorded commentary on the bus. Hop off at any of the stops, including Red Square, the Big Stone Bridge, and Pushkin Fine Arts Museum. Rejoin the bus when you’re ready. Upgrade to include a boat tour of Moscow.

It sounds strange but due to various reasons there was no monument to this outstanding military commander of the Great Patriotic War, as the Russians call WWII, in Moscow until 1995. Other reviews describe his deeds in detail so I'd just mention that he was the most decorated person in the USSR. Only the highest state award of this country - hero of the Soviet Union - was conferred upon him four times. Apart from them he was awarded with sixty-three orders and medals of the USSR and other countries including a title of an Honorary Knight-Commander, Order of the Bath, (military division) (UK), Chief Commander, Legion of Merit (USA) and Grand Officer of the Legion d'Honneur (France). We visited the place right after the New Year, in early January. There were lots of people around, notwithstanding covid. It was dark already and the statue was illuminated. Frankly speaking I don't like the monument that much. To me the horse seems disproportionate and sort of recalcitrant plus the spot where it stands is wrong. To my mind, this great Soviet marshal should have been placed on the Red Square where he commanded the Victory Parade in 1945. Strange as it may seem but it was UNESCO which played a role in preventing him to be there. It threatened to strike the square off its World Heritage List in case the monument is erected there because, it thought, such a step would ruin its "historical appearance". Wacky...

Marshal Zhukov is a very famous figure in Russia. He was a war hero during the World War II. The monument is located in front of the State History Museum facing Manege Square. He is depicted on the horse. There is a metro station next to this spot and so Muscovites often arrange to meet next to Zhukov if they are planning to do something in that area.

You will find the statue amidst a myriad of Christmas stalls. The equestrian statue of marshal an war honored hero, Gueorgui Konstantínovich Zhúkov stands in front of the war museum, he was on charge of the defense of many important cities in the URSS and a keystone in Nazi defeat. Check the nazi symbol under the horse’s huff When we visited Lenin’s corpse we could not spot Zhúkov’s tombstone as he is buried on the Kremlin wall
