Definitely a bucket list destination. Tickets are very expensive around Christmas. We didn't pay but we're told they cost $700.00 USD each. We sat on the floor about 15 rows back. My benchmark for this performance is the Nutcracker at the Sony centre in Toronto which is a perennial tour de force. The Russian ( and original) version is just... More

Beautiful place, full of grace, Historically powerful. The high-quality shows never disapoint, in couple, with parents or with friends, enjoy what Russia has to show ! The tickets price is high, but the Bolshoi deserves its worldwide reputation.

That is the most famous theatre in the world and once you are in Moscow you have to see that at any possible performance. I prefer the classical ballet, but any performance is worth to go and see feel the atmosphere.

We saw the Nutcracker right after Christmas. It did not disappoint. Tickets are not aways cheap, but if you can, seeing the famous ballet in action is a once in a lifetime experience.

The Bolshoi Theatre (Большо́й теа́тр) is a beautifully well kept venue that has given a major contribution to the history of the Russian performing arts. Not only considered one of Moscow’s main sights but also one of most technically equipped theatre buildings in the world. This imposing and elegant neoclassical building topped with four horses galloping is proudly the Moscow’s... More

If you like classical music and are going to Moscow, you have to visit the Bolshoi Theatre! The building itself is fascinating more outside. Getting inside, you feel a different era ... The decoration, gold, red and cream colors, royal splendor .... The Bolshoi Theatre is definitely one of the world's best theaters in the variety and quality of the... More

THis was definitely the highlight of our trip to Moscow - The opportunity to watch the ballet perform Sleeping Beauty . . . What a gorgeous theatre - and the mastery of the performance was inspired. If you have a chance to get to the Bolshoi, grab it . . . It's a once in a lifetime!

Saw sensational performance of Swan Lake, audience super attentive, wonderfully done, great interior. Worth it, if you can get tickets, requires advance planning, I was lucky!

It really depends on what you go and see. I went two times and I liked it. But you really have to book long time in advance because there are a lot of people trying to get a ticket and they book in advance.

Staying in Tverskaya

Neighborhood Profile
Tverskaya can’t be discovered with just a first glance, the neighborhood is shaped around a long street populated with well-known shops and brands. But it’s more than shopping that makes this place interesting. Take a few steps into the streets running parallel to the main artery to discover the charm just behind the mighty Stalinist style architecture. Comfy European pedestrian streets Bolshaya Dmitrovka or Stoleshnikov lane are a great place to start. Locals can be found here working, eating, shopping, resting and going to the Bolshoi Theatre in the evening.
