Ticket prices are very high as many people have commented but a chance to see a performance of the Bolshoi ballet is not to be missed. I would recommend trying to buy tickets from the Bolshoi as far in advance as possible to save money. The gift shop closes before the end of the performance so get there early or... More

The Bolshoi ballet was at a smaller theatre next door. This theatre was used for the Opera and it was projected to the street for everyone to see. What a beautiful tradition

Very few theatres in the world have such a spectacular design. It's very impressive to assist to a show.

We took a tour of the building. It was the most expensive thing we did in Moscow. 2,000 rubles each. The information on the Bolshoi website doesn't really explain how to get a ticket for the excursion. The tour in Russian is only 500 rubles. Not available to book online. Line up in front of door number 12 on the... More

For me, to watch ballet at Bolshoi Theatre was on my bucket list. That I was able to tick it off my bucket list was exhilarating, a dream realized. And what a way to do it by watching "Romeo and Juliet" interpreted so beautifuly in a theatre as grand as the Bolshoi Theatre and with ballet dancers as great as... More

I saw an opera "The Csars Bride" by Rimsky Korsikov, the theatre is beautiful, the stageing was excellent and the music was by a nearly full orchestra, there are shorter programmes available in their second theatre and the main event is often broadcast live to a large screen outside the theatre.

Our family had reserved the highest class private seats to this place so the view was fantastic and I really enjoyed the ballet that was shown at this place.

The Bolshoi is certainly the most famous ballet in the world, and many would say the greatest. Even if you are not a ballet fan, you definitely want to see why. Hint #1: Buy tickets ahead of time and shop around. We bought our tickets several months ahead of time and had excellent seats. Hint # 2: Shop around. Some... More

My wife and I went to the old theater more for the cultural, historical, architectural and people-watching aspects as much as for the opera. The theater didn't disappoint as it is fantastically beautiful. The website was very easy to use to arrange tickets months in advance for a very reasonable price. We enjoyed about a 30 minute Nutcracker Suite lead... More

Of course, no visit to Moscow is complete without a visit to the Bolshoi. But when you're on the 6th level with obstructed seating (and without being notified) - really takes the edge off. What I saw was impressive, but wait to see them in your hometown - since they tour often.

Staying in Tverskaya

Neighborhood Profile
Tverskaya
Tverskaya can’t be discovered with just a first glance, the neighborhood is shaped around a long street populated with well-known shops and brands. But it’s more than shopping that makes this place interesting. Take a few steps into the streets running parallel to the main artery to discover the charm just behind the mighty Stalinist style architecture. Comfy European pedestrian streets Bolshaya Dmitrovka or Stoleshnikov lane are a great place to start. Locals can be found here working, eating, shopping, resting and going to the Bolshoi Theatre in the evening.
