Let's face it, if your trip to Moscow does not include The Kremlin, Red Square, the Bolshoi ballet and the old Moscow Circus, you haven't done it right. Just like the circus, there are two buildings to the Bolshoi Theatre - the historic building and the new. The new is just like any other theatre but the historic is opulence... More

I was lucky enough to get hold of a ticket the same day I arrived from the hotel concierge. It was a very cultural, local and insightful experience. Highly recommended. I also got to have Cognac with raw fish in the break. Loved it!

A wonderful night at the opera. Comfortable, roomy seating and an exquisite, beautiful venue. Helpful staff. Be prepared for the cloakroom crush but the queues cleared quickly. Staff work very quickly. Ushers helpful and generally spoke some English. Wow! It was wow! A night at the Bolshoi should be on every itinerary. It should not be missed.

We were very successful to find a tickets to Bolshoi - very impressive beautiful Tsarski theatre. Performance of Shostacovich opera was not impressive. I prefer more the symphonies by him.

I saw "Romeo and Juliet". The dancers were wonderful, as was the orchestra. Seats were quite comfortable and the interior was amazing. There were refreshments for purchase during the intermission (coffee, tea, soft drinks, full bar and desserts). Ticket prices were very reasonable. Definitely a must see for the Moscow visitor.

If you have any interest in ballet or opera, you MUST go to the Bolshoi. Attracts mostly Russians - not so many tourists as the Mariinsky in St. Petersburg - which makes if feel really authentic. The theater is gorgeous so if you don't do a performance try for a tour of the building.

It's feels like a great and a historical event to go to. The theatre is beautiful and powerful, the acoustic is good and the music is unforgettable. Big like for the show

Staying in Tverskaya

Neighborhood Profile
Tverskaya
Tverskaya can’t be discovered with just a first glance, the neighborhood is shaped around a long street populated with well-known shops and brands. But it’s more than shopping that makes this place interesting. Take a few steps into the streets running parallel to the main artery to discover the charm just behind the mighty Stalinist style architecture. Comfy European pedestrian streets Bolshaya Dmitrovka or Stoleshnikov lane are a great place to start. Locals can be found here working, eating, shopping, resting and going to the Bolshoi Theatre in the evening.
