The layout of the gallery is a bit confusing and there are no maps to reference. We came to see The Black Square and they had a print out of it which is the main reason for the poor review.

A modern building in a very beautiful park - well organized and has both permanent exhibitions and special ones

The New Tretyakov specialises in 20th Century Russian art. Museum provides good overview. Some rooms were closed for renovation - otherwise would have been rated Excellent. Slightly confusing to find if not coming from Park Kultury metro station.

Me and the wife visited this rather fine art museum called New Tretyakov, which houses Russian 20th century modern art by artists such as Chagall, Kandinsky, Malevich and other well known Russian artists. Some of the works on display are quite interesting and beautiful. Overall...More

Have you heard of Valentin Serov? I guess not, unless you are a very wealthy art dealer – a not so well-to-do art dealer won’t afford it, the painter was not only talented but quite successful, too; a rare case among his colleagues, they mostly...More

In a wonderful riverside location this is an immense gallery with masses of art and sculpture to see. I found the pictures from the revolution and and the Stalinist regime particularly poignant.

What a sensational collection in a great space. We were blown away by the quality and variety of the collection of Russian art from 1900 to today. Literally today, there were several "performance artists" performing throughout the permanent collection. The Soviet era is well represented...More
