I travelled Moscow on a New year eve. So at that time, there was freezing cold and also lot of crowd but even after so much of difficulties, the experience was surreal to be honest. That place has a special vibe to that and it reflects the history in itself.

Never forget that this "intramuros Forbidden City" is first and foremost the seat of Russia's President the Almighty and only then a tourist attraction. So, security procedures are pretty strict there.
As a Muscovite, I knew it, of course, so I started to structure my trip two weeks in advance. The goal was to show it to my two grandsons and after careful planning we sure made it! In late August. The second objective was to watch change of Kremlin guard - a spectacular ceremony per se.
We saw everything! Took a walk around, visited cathedrals we wanted to step into, enjoyed the show and even had a chance to talk to mounted guards (they were so nice to the kids!).

Entering the Kremlin is like entering another world, a “city in the city”, with its amazing churches and curiosities such as the “Tsar Bell” which never rang as it had broken before its installation.

Book your tour in advance. Preferably in the morning. We were very lucky to see the bands perform. Do visit the smaller churches in the complex. They are usually ignored but quite beautiful and without crowds.

I took the red metro line 1 to Biblioteka Imeni Lenina then walked through to the exit on the grey metro line 9 station Borovitskaya.
From there it was a short walk to the Kremlin complex although a couple of busy roads had to be crossed.
Due to the requirement to have a PCR test no longer than 24 hours before visiting many indoor attractions, my visit was limited to outdoor viewing.
The buildings were spectacular including gold domed churches, towers, statues and the stunning St Basil’s cathedral.
I also enjoyed walking through the snow covered Alexander Park and saw the Lenin library.
Very interesting and I must revisit to see the indoor attractions when the pandemic allows.

The place is a must in the list of POI in Moscow. The weather in Moscow in August was great and you could see the blue sky which I think is a rarity given the long winters and windy and overcast weather. This was my business visit so could not plan it properly with a proper guide. English language is not liken much in Russia. All the signboards, signage are written in Russian. The place is a crowd puller. Ppl can be seen taking selfie all around. The majestic church looks very cute. And the sprawling area near the church, clock tower can make you awes struck. Behind the walls is where the president lives but no one can find out where he lives in palatial residence. That’s what I was made to believe.

The Moscow Kremlin is one of the most famous places in the world. It's the seat of Russia for centuries and the most historic place in the capital.
Inside the walls there're government edifices you cannot enter, most important and beautiful Churches you can enter but cannot take photos, as well Royal museums like the armory and many monuments.
For seeing all the above you'll need almost an entire day, so plan carefully.

A little late in reviewing but can only say what a fantastic experience this was. Our tour guide was excellent - and patient when we were confused over the meeting place. This tour has a potted history of the Kremlin from outside its walls, after which you enter the Kremlin and explore by yourself. We opted to visit the diamond collection, something I will not forget. Whilst you are free to wander there are many restricted areas which are clearly marked. Try and combine with changing the guard at the eternal flame.

Would it be better to get a guided tour?

Definitely. The guide will give you plenty of history from learning about the Russian Orthodox Church to all they symbolism at each stop. I would say it is a must.

I would like to prebook online tickets for the Cathedral Square. I have 3 children under 16 with me. If I need to get free tickets for the children, can I get it when I exhanged the online vouchers or do I need to get it separately from the main ticket office? Thank you

Realmente no se. Cuando lo visité habian bastantes personas pero fue muy fluida la fila y la compra del boleto de entrada. Dentro igual muhos visitantes pero se puede apreciar todo sin dificultad.

Hi
I'm going to visit Moscow on August this year with my husband and my 3 kids. I saw that it is strongly recommended to buy the tickets to the Kremlin Armory online in advance. I checked the site and there is no option to book free tickets for kids. What should I do? Buy 2 adults tickets online? If so how can I be sure that at the ticket office will be tickets left for my kids for this day?

comprando i biglietti per il Cremlino on line è possibile richiedere l'audioguida in italiano in biglietteria? è possibile prenotare on line l'audioguida? grazie

Sorry, just realised that my reply had not been posted.
You need anyway to visit ticket office, that is close to the gate.
If you are able to pass the gate without extra ticket - just go

I just purchased my ticket to tour the Kremlin on Friday August 17. Unfortunately, the Armoury tickets were sold out. I am going to do the audio tour. How long would you suggest that I allow myself to tour the complex using the audio tour? Thanks

We were there last Monday and we were doing our own thing but it still took over 2 hours due to the shear volume of tourists there and the number of huge guided tours that slow everything even further. Our time was spent mainly queuing behind the tours yo be honest but it's still very beautiful to see. M

Hi. I am going buy ticket for Kremlin armoury chamber and cathedral square online. Along with me my two kids will be there, both less than 16 years.
The website indicate kids less than 16 years go free, but have to obtain free ticket over there.
Can anyone share your experience with free kids / children ticket! Does it take significant time to get it over there or any specific experience.

Hi i travelled with kids. I would advice to prebook your tickets as the queue can get super long.
Coming back to your questions. It’s very simple process. Once you have booked your tickets just walk to the pre booked tickets counter to collect adult tickets and free kids tickets.

Hola! El cambio de guardia es todos los días y varias veces. Es en la tumba del soldado caído sobre los jardines de Alexander. Lleva unos cuantos minutos el acto y es fácil de apreciar
