The classic weekend location in summer and very well-known for many good installations for kids. It‘s always worth a walk when the weather is good. During this time (still summer holidays) it’s not crowded and the waiting time for attractive installations is short.

Loads of ways to walk around and enjoy experience and art. Museums, sport and activity options, food places and lots and lots of other things. In winter of course you are missing beauty of flowers and green plants but lights, sculptures and so on makes up for it! Now in winter ice skating arena helps to have more fun... tho q was heavy. Definitely interesting to be and even more if with someone who knows about park and tells you stories.

One of the best parks in Moscow with something for everyone - from a huge outdoor ice-skating rink in Winter, to boat rides in summer; with a skate park, a space shuttle, art installments, and even a wind tunnel!

Wandered around here for about 3 hrs and only seen about 5% of it, such a wonderful place, people just enjoying life, activities everywhere, roller skating, table tennis, laying in bean bags, just soaking up the sun, if Russian people are oppressed then I certainly didn't see it here, really think we need to stop believing a lot of what we are force fed by some of our Media.

A good place for spending several hours, either for relaxation or for sport and culture. There are 2 large museums (1 on each side of the main road that crosses it. One can simply rest on large pillows under the trees (or sunbathing if not too hot). The northern museum is surrounded with sculptures along a lovely garden. Some of them very impressive.

Amazing place, where you feel like the world is yours.
You relax, lie on the grass, have fun and breath in all the Russian air.

Gorkiy park is, in my opinion, a must for every visitor to Moscow. I spent a day there in summer last year, now I had the opportunity to see it in winter and it was a dream for skaters with a network of rinks and adjacent kiosks with refreshments. A walk further on down the river was a fairytale experience. Just do not forget to dress well, Moscow winters can be rather tough.

Gorki Park is just one of the many green lungs in Moscow but due to its central location kind of like the Central Park in NY. It seems recently refurbished with a very nice ambient. Food trucks, food stalls, boarder facilities, small lakes and the bicycle and walking path directly along the Moskva. Great!

Well you've got to go, but don't expect large expanses of greenery and tranquility. In many ways this park and the goings on there encapsulate a trend I've noticed whilst living in Moscow..namely a frantic desire by the State to provide endless amounts of publicly funded distractions...some would say a sinister governmental attempt to keep the populace 'happy'. Try to find a park where there isn't an ice skating rink being put up or taken down, or an artificial ski piste, or an entire village of quaint stalls being erected, or dismantled, or endless coffee booths, bike hire, fairground rides.etc etc. Sounds great? Well, kind of..only I don't see the 'park' in Gorky Park. I see a fairground of amusements and distractions..little or know tranquility. For that you'd be advised to go further afield. Great location though and LOADS to do!

I'm from Canada so I know about good outdoor events, and this is a fantastic experience! You can skate through the paths of Gorky Park which are lit with coloured lights and there's music playing. It's a great atmosphere. If you go at night you can see lights underneath the ice turn everything multi-coloured.

During the week the price is only about 300 rubles which includes your entrance & skate rental. It's a fantastic deal. I believe weekends is 500 rubles. There's also free Jacob's coffee available on weekends....you can skate right up to their tent for free coffee.
Credit cards accepted.
1000 ruble deposit for skates
Locker rental 150 rubles

Apart from that there are small kiosks along the ice to take a break and warm up with some food & drinks. There are also the regular restaurants in the park where skaters can go in, warm up, and have a full restaurant meal.

It can get quite crowded during the day and early evening. After 9pm it clears out and there's much more room.

Even if you don't want to skate, there is a nice pedestrian bridge built above where you can walk & look down at the skates below. Makes for a nice walk, but you can't access the vendors (for food, drinks, etc.) as they are in the paid skating area.
