This is an amazingly beautiful cathedral. The outside is far more interesting than the inside so if you don't have a ton of time then you can just see it from Red Square. Check it out at night too.

Red Square, Moscow. Glad we got here before travel was banned. What a stunning place Moscow is. And this Cathedral is probaly the most iconic of them all. We travelled from St. Petersberg by train in one day. It was a long day but 110% worth the time and money. Just beware that photographing inside the Kremlin, Catherdrals etc, etc is strictly forbidden and you will be asked to delete all photos infront of security staff.

Probably it’s the most iconic landmark in Moscow and in whole Russia. It’s easily recognizable thanks to its brilliant colours as well as the iconic onion-shaped domes.

Absolutely stunning. The striking visual architecture of the church with the bright, vivid colours adorning every dome and brick is a sight to behold. Absolutely beautiful and an amazing cultural icon. It's worth the trip to Moscow alone.

Basil's Cathedral is a real visiting card of Moscow and probably the most recognizable place in Russia.
For many who come to Moscow and come to Red Square, it becomes the most striking and memorable cathedral of the capital. Built between 1555 and 1561, this temple impresses with its ornate domes of the most intricate shapes.
For a long time I did not manage to visit inside.
Entrance fee, 500 rubles. for citizens of the Russian Federation and 1000 for foreign guests.
It is quite crowded inside, several churches of very small area are combined into a whole labyrinth.
Very beautiful painting on the walls, old icons.
In front of the temple, on a small pedestal, there is a model that the visually impaired can touch. It also allows you to imagine what the temple looks like from above.
A place that is definitely worth a visit!

Visiting St. Basil’s Cathedral is a must to all tourists to Moscow, because it is a iconic symbol of the city. Saint Basil's Cathedral, is an Orthodox church, built in 1561. It is having a fairy tale appearance, that what makes it alluring. I had the chance to go inside with Valentina, a local guide from “Walks with Folks”. Valentina picked me up from my hotel and we reached the Red Square for a morning tour. Valentina was well informed with rich background. She spoke fluent English with varied vocabulary. She spoke like a history professor. It was like a maze inside the Cathedral with floral design in different chapels. Truly unusual interior.

This is hands down the most impressive Cathedral in Moscow. It's especially pretty when it's snowing.

I walked from Borovitskaya metro station on the grey line 9, skirted the Kremlin along the banks of the Moscow river before ending up at St Basil’s on the edge of Red Square.
It was a truly breathtaking sight to see it in the flesh. Unfortunately I did not have an opportunity to go inside.
A very special place where there are so many fascinating buildings and statues to see.

We will be in Red Square as part of a Viking Cruise tour on September 16. We have 1 1/2 hours free time in the square. Would we have enough time to queue for tickets and go inside and still have some time to stroll around Red Square and take pictures? If not, is there a secure, safe site where we could purchase tickets on line before leaving the US? Would this allow entrance without queuing?

Hi, We were on a land tour and visited Red Square both in the day, as well at night. We did no queuing there, although the Cathedral was shut due to something. The night tour was FAR more preferable to day, as it, the square and GUM store were lit and it was fabulous.

Meglio prendere i biglietti alla cassa vicino alla chiesa soprattutto se siete con bambini . Bambini sotto 7 anni non pagano. La fila alla cassa scorre veloce

Hi - it's about 10-12 dollars (depending on exchange). Children under 16 are free.
This is definitely worthwhile but try to go outside peak times to minimize the crowds. And don't forget to explore all the nooks too - this is a very old structure with lots of fascinating history.
Hope you enjoy it!

Здравствуйте,
На мой взгляд, было бы лучше заказать экскурсию,
продлится она в течение часа - полутора.
Она - познавательна и информативна.
Самостоятельно - не всегда практично.

Hi, I will be in Europe in February. I really would like to go to Moscú, but I'm afraid of the weather. In your opinion, with clothes for intensive cold, is it possible to visit Moscu during this month? Or I´m completely crazy? Thanks!!

I like cold and dry winters. Moscow in the winter can be really impressive. If you have never been there before - probably better to go in the warm season

It is open the 3rd of July, but closed the 4th of July. You may easily listen to an explanation during your city tour and them buy tickets in the ticket office near the entrance to have a tour inside. There no much information about the interior, more to see than to listen.
