This monument is well-known, I think, to all Russians who are older than thirty years old. One of the most - if not the most - striking examples of Soviet art. It is very good that the monument has not been sold to the French after 1937 International Exposition of Art and Technology in Modern Life (official title) in Paris - they wanted it so much! - but returned back to Moscow. I passed it by in February, in the evening. It was beautifully illuminated and shone like sun - in the darkness! Nicely restored, placed again on a "right" plinth, it was proudly rushing up and forward, to the glittering communist utopia. There are benches nearby where one can sit and philosophize about futility of human dogmas and practicalities of real life. Man proposes, God disposes. Soviet communists forgot this wisdom... A must!…

This gigantic statue can be seen for miles and is indeed an incredible work of art. Standing beneath it was awesome..

Stainless steel gigantic statues created to symbolize the union of the working class and peasantry in Soviet Russia. It was created by Vera Mukhina, the master of socialist realistic sculpture, for the 1937 World Fair in Paris. And what is really interesting and ironic is that this steel couple directly faced the German pavillion crowned by an eagle with a swastika! Hence, symbols of Soviet Socialism and German Nazism were facing off, literally, and somehow forecasted Nazism being crashed by Russians and allies!…

I like the construction of this place, light inside, the stairs also my favorite! Inside you can look at something interesting - they have a nice exhibitions.

Never thought it would be as tall as a four or five story building it’s huge with each arm deployed away from the axis the core must be heavily reinforced and anchored to the building below. Worth visiting. By the way the observation deck is closed for the season.
