Sapsan is the name of a high speed train connecting two Russian capitals. Sapsan train derived its name from the fastest bird in the falcon family. Designed by Siemens AG it is a high speed train, that can reach the speed up to 250 km/h and is perfectly adapted to the harsh Russian climate.

Very efficient and clean. I rode the Economy Plus Car 5 and it is very comfortable. You get $34 worth of free food. The Train Attendants speaks English. The trip from Moscow to St Petersburg is about 4 hours and it cost about $70

Also far quicker than flying. First class was exactly that. Excellent service, good food and drink. Punctual to the second. Very comfortable multi adjustable wide seats with plenty of legroom. Great journey.

I had trip from saint Petersburg to moscow with Sapsan. It was really comfortable journey. Personal polite, restaurant is cool. And the view of the road just marvelous. If you will need to choice plane or sapsan, just think about sapsan.

Indeed, food and drinks available on the train. We travelled as a group. Most of us got an UBER taxi, one group a "regular" one. The latter was 2x more expensive..

There is really no need to upgrade. The journey in 2nd class is really comfortable.
