We caught the 11am train in St Petersburg for the 4 hour trip to Moscow. The stewards and security were so helpful stowing our luggage. We had booked on line and for a small extra sum, a seat in the dining car. Here we were treated to R2000 each of any food from the menu - and it was delicious.... More

When you intend to travel to St. Pete to spent a couple of days (which is HIGHLY recommended), use SAPSAN train. its fact, clean, convenient and effective. Takes only 4,5hours to travel and you are directly in the centre of St. Pete. I would not say SAPSAN is any special if you compare to TGV and it only goes max.... More

This is a slick, modern train. Very clean and a bit like getting on a plane with the boarding pass style of ticket. The wide gauge rails meant there was generous seating, unlike an aircraft.

Poor restaurant service in business class; not worth the extra charge. Go for premium economy, which also has bigger seats. My train was about 30 minutes late!!

Why fly when you can go by train! Sapsan is a perfect example. A business class seat enable you to fly by the majestic and robust Russian country side at ground level. Center to center, door to door in less time than flying. Pleasant staff, great food and modern facilities. Sapsan is perfect.

Took Sapsan train from Moscow to St Petersburg. Booked directly with train company. Printed off tickets. Easy to find at station. **When arriving in St Petersburg, note that all taxi's are crooks. Have your hotel arrange for transport, or take GETT or maybe Uber (not as big). Or subway (easy to navigate). St Pete's station is conveniently located and taxi... More

My son and our whole family loved our trip on the Sapsan from Moscow to Saint Petersburg took four hours and we travelled 2nd Class but wow was it good, food allowance with carriage waiter who serves you in your seat as if you are in a restaurant. 2000 Rubles allowance for food and drink purchases was included in our... Comfortable ride in second class from St Petersburg. Good leg room even got tall people. Friendly service but limited dining options. Able to see the countryside under all the snow. Queue to get on was very pushy, locals all in a hurry and basically rude.
