My wife initially came across Alex while doing research on my family history in the Banat. They spoke via email and set up both personal genealogy tours as well as the culture / walking tour of Timisoara.
She assisted me in finding the ancestral family home in the village of Fibis, got me a tour of where my family spent nearly two centuries and through a wonderful stroke of luck, got me a brick from the former house foundation. A late afternoon lunch with classic “Swabian” cuisine made it an amazing day.
A couple of days later we met her for the walking tour of Timisoara. She showed us the spark point of the ‘89 revolution, walking across the city through its process. Not only was that part fascinating, she included the history of the city from ancient, to old, to recent history each step of the way.
As I have a habit of asking 1000’s of questions, she was patient as I went through them helping me to deeper understanding with each.
We would highly recommend her to anyone looking for help with their history in the Banat, and encourage everyone to enjoy her warm personality and informatively done tour of Timisoara

We have spent five days in Timisoara and two of them were with Alexandra, taking a genealogy research trip to Fibis and Charlottenburg and a Culture Crawl tour through Timisoara. I appreciated a lot her passion for history, storytelling, and her accuracy in presenting and finding the correct information.
Alexandra is very easy to get along with and crafted the tours to our interests, adding small adventures along the way but also adapting them to new findings. During our genealogy tour, we stopped to see a lovely lavender farm and a Danube Swabian restaurant and inn, but we also stepped into a hunting museum that happened to be open. The Culture Crawl introduced us to the art, architecture, and history of Timisoara and made us fall in love with the city.
We hope to see her again as a friend and/or when we return to Banat.

We had a great time with Alexandra. She took my 8 year old daughter and I around Timisoara and nearby villages. She was very flexible and patient with my last minute plans and with my travel-weary kid. She made the most of our time and we left feeling like we had a good sense of the history of Timisoara, as well as a glimpse into our family history in the region. Her services are a great investment if you want to get the most out of your time in Timisoara and/or want to do a genealogy tour in the Banat region.

Absolutely loved working with Alexandra!! My husband and I travelled to Romania for my husband to be able to complete some genealogy research. We travelled and worked with Alexandra for 5 days. We were able to visit 15 villages of my husband’s ancestors in the Banat. We visited the church and cemetery of the villages. In 4 of the villages, we requested to be able to go into the Church, and Alexandra was able to make this happen. These Church visits were such amazing experiences. We couldn’t have done this trip without Alexandra. She was our transportation, our translator to the people we met along the way, and she planned the trips to the various museums we visited. She also had some great recommendations for food while we were there. We would highly recommend working with her if you are interested in completing your own genealogy trip to Romania!! We also went on her tour around Timisoara and we learned so much about the history there!

There is never enough listening Alexandra telling real stories about places, people, life and events. She makes your imagination build a movie and your heart to feel the emotions of the past, to relax and to laugh, to be captivated and to wait curiously for the end of the story. So many things in a single tour! Amazing and very talented guide! Congratulations to Alexandra!

Alexandra, "the girl with the red umbrella", is not just a tour guide, she is an expert in history, geography & storytelling. We spent a 2-hour insightful journey into the background of Timișoara and its surroundings.

I highly recommend her for the easiness with which she provides connections that prove the mastery of tourist guiding and the genuine knowledge of the human being.

In September of 2023 I had the good fortune of traveling to Timisoara to visit the area where many of my ancestors emigrated from. What luck that Alexandra with Timisoara Tour Guides lives and works in this area as a tour guide focusing on genealogy. She set up a wonderful day visiting several village churches and cemeteries where my ancestors once lived, planned a traditional Banat lunch at a local restaurant, and shared her beautiful city with me. Prior to my visit she also did research into my family line and helped add to my family tree. Her knowledge of the history of the area in general is extensive, especially regarding the various groups that have come and gone over the centuries. I highly recommend her if you are looking into your family history and want to know more about the area that they came from. No doubt I will be back some day in the future to do further research and I will not hesitate to utilize Alexandra’s knowledge, expertise, and local connections again when that time comes. Happy travels to you all and I hope you are able to find the family connections you are searching for!

I had some friends from abroad coming over and decided to book a tour for them. It was the best decision and the best start possible for their first trip/time in Timisoara.

Alexandra is The guide to book for a proper introduction to Timisoara. She has a unique way of presenting the place with its history, people and buildings, she is funny, makes connections I would have never thought about and helps you See the city, not only look at it.

We were in Timisoara for just 2 days and it was raining constantly. The clouds broke for just the one hour that we were scheduled to do a walking tour with Alexandra. She gave us a beautiful narrative on the history of the city and Romania in general and proceeded to show us the central part of town, including Union Square and Victory Square. Her tour was naturally the highlight of our stay in the city and would highly recommend her as you tour guide and companion to see the city

After visiting Timisoara many times before a friend set up this guided tour for us with Alexandra. I learned so much about this beautiful city and how the past influences came together forming what we see today.
The use of visual aids around the city really brought the past to life, with a lovely interconnecting flow from one period to the next, and with each step through the old fortress of Timisoara.
Alexandra "the girl with the red umbrella", was friendly and knowledgeable, accommodating questions with ease and passion, and was a pleasure to spend a couple of hours with.
To top it all off, we were only a party of two, but speaking English and Spanish natively, and Alexandra was able to fluently add to the experience by speaking in both languages whenever needed.
This tour is highly recommended for your visit to Timisoara.
