A symbol for Timisoara: not only is the largest religious edifice in the city, but it is placed in the center, near Bega.

If you would like to start a tour of the city on your own, you can start your tour from center with this Cathedral. And you can come back after your city tour: in front of the Cathedral there are many restaurants , very nice and cozy ( especially during spring, summer and autumn ) to eat or just to enjoy a glass of wine or a simple lemon&water.

You can feel the majestic Spirit of this Orthodox Cathedral, once you enter. The architecture is beautiful and you can feel it while your eyes will eyes will admire it.

When it comes to Timisoara the most iconic landmark is the Orthodox cathedral situated in Victoriei square of the city (it's like the Parliament building in Budapest, like St. Stephen Cathedral in Vienna , like Sagrada Familia in Barcelona ... etc.)
It was built between 1936 and 1941 and it is a landmark that can be seen from various parts of the city.
So when you are in Timisoara this is one of the top 5 places you need to put on your list of Landmarks to visit regardless if you are religious or not.
Entrance is free of charge and unlike the vast majority of churches in Timisoara it is open all the time.
Enjoy , it is worth it.

For sure the most beautiful edifice in Timisoara both - inside and outside.
The Cathedral stands opposite the National Opera and Theater from where the Romanian revolution started on Victory Square.
It's a pretty young Church built from 1936-46 in a Moldavian style with a mix of Byzantine and Gothic elements. The Cathedral has several towers with the central one being the highest in all Romania.
Do enter to admire terrific interiors, specially the gilded altarpiece.

Right in the centre of Timisoara stands this beautiful orthodox cathedral relatively modern as it was built around the beginning of the XX century. It is impossible to miss this building walking in the city centre of the town. The interior of the Cathedral is very cosy and warm. I really liked it

I have been here during a business trip to Timisoara. The Orthodox Cathedral is an architectural monument, standing in the heart of the city, with beautiful paintings specific to our Orthodox culture. It is a must do when in Timisoara.

This is the cathedral that closed the doors rather than provide sanctuary during the revolution. As a result, during the revolution in 1989 several heroes were shot and died on the front steps.

Stunning design from the outside, tranquil on the inside. An important location for the city as citizens were killed on its steps in 1989 during the revolution.

One of the most beautiful places in Timisoara. Really gorgeous.
I had never entered a Orthodox Church before. If you have a guide is even better.
