Sf. ILIE

I had the opportunity to be there for the Sf. ILIE Day. The service was impressive, but for me it was a extraordinary experience the Cathedral itself.

The cathedral is the seat of the Archbishop of Timișoara and Banat, dedicated to the three Hierarchs. Was raised between 1936 and 1941 in neo-Moldavian style.

There is a beutifull museum underneat the church. The square in front of the church is a very good place to talk a walk.

It`s the most representative building for Timisoara. The cathedral was raised between 1936 and 1941.

One of the most interesting Orthodox Cathedrales that I have seen in Romania/Turkey from the architectural point of view (by the way, even if I am not an architect or artist, I understood this detail, then it is good to have a look if you are in Timisoara). The official information supports me that "Neo-Moldavian style, based on Romanian Orthodox,... More

It is a simple kishy cathedral not older than 70 years. It's worth one photo not more, but the park (garden) surrounded the temple is beautiful on spring.

In the very centre of Timisoara it a place to be enjoyed from both the outside and inside. It is and atmospheric place with wonderful icons and the classic Iconostasis of the orthodox church. It is worth just wandering if only for a short time to enjoy the place

The cathedral is gorgeous, it looks like it's taken from an ancient eastern fairytale. If you're in the city it's hard to miss, but it's well worth going in to take a look!
