When you recall the history of this square, the uprising and sacrifice that it has witnessed - possibly by visiting the town's museum? - it becomes so much more than a nice place to enjoy a beer, ice cream or lunch. It is that as well, though... enjoy and remember.

You can still see some bullet holes from the revolution. There are restaurants, shops, market and bakeries on this square. So pretty much everything you need during your stay.

If you go or pass through Timisoara to see the square it is a must. It is not a big place so for a couple of pictures you will need something like 10 min. In winter is the most jollyfull time because of decorations.

Piata Victoriei/Piata Opera is one of the most beautiful central squares in Europe, with the Opera at one end and the Orthodox cathedral at the other. In the middle are beautiful, and ONCE luxurious apartment buildings, now in a state of collapse inside, but still gorgeous from the outside. The square is very lively, even at night on a summer...
