Touring through many European towns, I became fascinated as I learned more and more about "Plague" monuments or statues that can be found in many town's city centers. Please after reading this, look it up to learn more about them if you are not familiar already. You should find it rather interesting. They are all slightly different, very interesting, a lot of detail, and now I look specifically for them in different towns. I was, of course, pleased to enter Liberty Square in Timisoara and find their Plague statue here. It is impressive and like I said, once you know what you are looking at, you will enjoy them all the more. It is so respectful and deserving that these monuments were tributed to the people in the history of the town. A thank you to those who cared to pay tribute, and now are long gone themselves

I’m a sucker for trams so the fact this square has a tram running straight through it is influencing how much I like it. But other than that, I happened to go there during some kind of food festival, I really liked the atmosphere, they even set up some kind of “communal” table where strangers socialized. The pattern on the ground is also pretty.

Liberty Square is the oldest square In Timisoara, located in the very center of the city, in the Old Town. The oldest buidings were built here between 1727 and 1734, like the Old City Hall.

This used to be a nice historical square with large trees offering shadow in the summer and benches to rest. Now, the entire square has been renewed and is awful. There's only stone with a strange design. Overall, turned a beautiful place in an ugly concrete circle. It's a shame what they did to this place.

While the other two squares (Unity and Victory) are bigger and more popular and famous, this one is the city's oldest one. It's set right between the other two, with beautiful houses around and Virgin Mary monument in the middle.

There is something to see, some of the buildings under renovation but nice to walk around the area. Worth coming in summer because winter is too rainy

I love how the city looks like, during December. It is worth it to go for a walk in the night in Libertatii square, Unirii and Victory square. It's just beautiful!

It's really nice here at the moment thanks to the Christmas lights and decorations. There is also a decent-sized skating rink set up.
