the monastery is very well known and considered the best in a region where there are like a dozen. it is unesco world heritage and gets plenty of visitors. to get there, the final 500 meters you have to go through all the souvenir shops...More

Amazing, how the painting have survied, for hundreds of years, so very interesting, The interior is all painted as well, and lovely, even though you cannot taqke interior photos. The nuns are around all the while often singing in the church which is very evocative
