About
We invite you to Experience Romania through private tours, carefully designed for each one of you! Romania is a wonderful place, it’s like seven countries in one, a blend of cultures and historical heritage. What makes Romania really unique, are the hidden gems: fairy tale villages, interesting locals, untouched and unspoiled places, with best kept traditions. This is the extra touch that we like to give to our guests, an authentic experience. Along the best known places in Romania, we add the feeling, the emotion. We will go off the beaten paths to show you how the locals live, we will talk to them, eat with them, dance with them. We will show you the real deal. More than this, we will listen to you first, and always come with the element of surprise. And that look on your face when this happens … is priceless!

If you want to experience Romania, look no further. Flavia gave us such an amazing trip, planning our itinerary throughout the country and giving us a view of its nooks and crannies as well as its major sites. Her knowledge, great sense of humor, and driving skills all combined to make our journey memorable and so much fun.

We travelled through northern and central Romania for nine days with the amazing Flavia. She took us to the famous highlights - painted churches, merry cemetery, Saxon villages, castles and churches, but also the genuine rural country side. I don't think there could be a better guide to the real Romania than Flavia.

We spent an entire day with Flavia Dragan starting at an easy to find meeting place. Flavia had obviously listen to our wishes and researched ahead of time to fulfill a dream of a lifetime. She showed us some key elements of her home town, Arad before driving us to my Grandfather's village. She arranged for meeting with key people of the village that could help me connect with my Grandfather's life in Semlac. We visited several churches one of which would of been by Grandfathers. The Father and Pastors where there to talk with us and share there knowledge of early life in Semlac, but most meaningful to us is that she arranged a lunch for us with a family in Semlac that shared my maiden name of my Grandfather. Actually it was more like a feast, with delicious traditional foods prepared by this family's own hands. Experiencing this type of open hospitality to us with such a loving family was heart warming. Flavia was such an insightful tour guide to arrange all of this. This experience will be one that I will charish forever. Thank you Flavia Drăgan!

Hi became fascinated with northern Romania during a quick trip to Cluj one year. I desperately wanted to tour the wooden churches, painted churches, and to visit the Merry Cemetery, but with a guide. I was beyond fortunate to have found Flavia. Not only is she a wonderful person (and much fun) but made the entire trip come alive for me. She arranged delightful accommodation, where I became a part of the family, and even made sure all of my pesky food allergies were not a problem. Each day was a new adventure into a land like nowhere I had ever been. The sights were beautiful and her knowledge endless. Returning to Cluj and my trip home, she even found time for me to appease my Dracula desires and we were able to visit Hotel Castle Dracula! I strongly encourage anyone visiting Romania to contact Flavia and guarantee you a fantastic holiday!

Our guide Iulian Atanasiu, accompanied us for a week through Maramures and Bucovina, with some parts of the trip planned, some responding to events encountered on the way. Iulian is a historian by hobby, and an engineer and tour guide by profession. So we got excellent 'snapshot' introductions to how and why Romanian culture is like it is today (which I was very keen to hear) but mainly we got to see lots of interesting country, old trades that are now disappearing, traditional dancing, and painted monastries. We even participated in a village wedding ceremony and attended a special outdoor service at a monastry in Bucovina. It was a crowded week and very satisfactory. Iulian is generous, attentive host; a great guide; and a watchful and expert driver. We were lucky to have him.

Our trip started with our guide, Endre picking us up at our hotel. We then drove down to the Danube. The Entire Way, Endre did everything he could to make sure we were comfortable and did not need anything. The trip had several different elements. The first was a hike to the top of a gorge. I would recommend that you take the right shoes for this trip. It does require you to also be moderately physically fit. Endre was great and very patient with us as we reached the top. He knew all the best places for photos. We then had a great lunch and explored a wild cave. Endre secured us a cave expert to guide us in. Then, we had a boat trip that included some hidden caves and wonderful views from the Danube. The tour in itself was great, but Endre added such a personal touch to it and went above and beyond, but you felt like you were hanging out with a friend. Airport can lost our luggage so when we told him he even took us to the airport and waited for us to get it at the end of our trip. Once again, he went above and beyond. We feel like we have made a friend in addition to the tour. We Will come back and do another tour and make sure we secure him as our Guide.

Recently my daughter Amber and I took a Viking River Cruise from Germany to Budapest Hungary. It was the best trip I have ever been on. We decided to stay extra days after the river cruise concluded in Budapest to see if we could get information on any of my father’s family members that were still living in Budapest or Romania. Before we left on our trip, my daughter had been doing some research on ancestry etc. She also got the name of a Guide to help us on our extended stay in Budapest. Flavia did a lot of researching for us, using many sites to help us find information regarding the possible remaining members of our family.
Amber was the contact with Flavia so I didn’t really know what to expect. She seemed confident in her so we rented a car and met her at the train station in Arad. As soon as I met her I felt comfortable. She was so friendly and natural, as if I already knew her. Now remember we are in a foreign country, don’t know the language or anyone here and I feel comfortable. Amazing! She took us around Arad explaining her hometown and some history of Romania. It was so interesting hearing it from an actual resident instead of reading about it online. She was very knowledgeable and it was fun learning from her. Now we want to come back and visit some of the places that she described to us.

Because of Flavia, we were actually able to visit with our family on the last day of our extended trip. She went above and beyond what we were expecting. I cannot tell you just how much this meant to us, but especially to me. I have been trying to find information about my family since I was a little girl.
I would suggest if you are visiting Romania to contact Flavia and let her show you her country. I guarantee you will be as pleased as were. Not only did I find my family but we now consider Flavia part of it too.
Can’t say enough, she is the best!

So easy to lose track on the days and time—Maramures is so novel. Here, the other world does not exist. Where to next? Hmm. That road’s not so good today--let's go here instead. Hard to imagine that what we missed could possibly equal what is here, now, this new surprise. It’s not merely sights and places—you can easily form friendly connections with these people in these special non-elbow-to-elbow destinations. Flavia’s knowledge and engagement with the culture and the people is absolutely contagious. I can see there’s much more of Romania to explore with this special guide—already I sense a return trip on the horizon.

We ( group of 14) booked 9 days private tour of Transylvania with Flavia in Oct, 2017. Flavia is a wealth of knowledge, experience tour guide, very flexible, great personnality and very competent. Flavia exceeded all of our expectation. She was constantly aware of the need of each individual in the group and tailored her suggestions accordingly. She gave us more than she was expected to do. It made our experience of amazing Transylvania is unforgetable.

I highly recommend Flavia to those who want to discover the beauty of Romania, historical sites, landscapes, the romantic medieval cities and remote villages.

I booked a 4-day tour of the Maramures and Bucovina regions of Romania with Flavia. I wanted to see the landscape, architecture, and daily life of people in the villages and towns in the area. I knew it would be close to impossible to do it on my own without connections in the places and finding the small villages. I was referred to Flavia and Experience Romania and she crafted the perfect itinerary for me for this amount of time. I got a great introduction to this beautiful area of the world and its people and culture--from the wooden churches, to the painted monasteries, Merry Cemetery, traditional food, and even a traditional village wedding!

Flavia was the perfect guide--knowledgeable, flexible, experienced. She really knows and loves her country and it shows. She was a pleasure to spend a few days with and I feel I got a much richer appreciation of Romania through her. I would highly recommend Experience Romania for cultural tours around Romania--a great value and a wonderful experience you won't soon forget.
