The booking was made through Connections, and I got an sms from the pilot very early in the morning to confirm that the weather was good and my flight had been confirmed. I spent almost two hours in the gyrocopter and was so glad I had not chosen a helicopter instead. Pilot Johnny understands how to build suspense, and how to show off this beautiful island. We were blessed to have only a few clouds coming over as we flew along the lagoon - for the rest, the skies were clear and views spectacular.

The highlight of my reunion experience. I had been in communications with johnny over WhatsApp for a month proceeding my trip to reunion as a gyrocopter ride was on my bucket list. Unfortunately the day that my trip was scheduled for weather did not permit the trip. Johnny managed to reschedule it to later during my trip. Johnny tailored the gyrocopter ride to meet my budget and included the 3 cirques at a discount. The gyrocopter ride was beyond exhillirating. Best aerial adventure I have done. You feel like top gun with sunglasses and earphones. The adventure is slow enough to take awesome pics but exciting that you close to mountain edges. It just got better as adventure proceeded. You could see cilaos, flew through salazie and saw trou de ver waterfalls which was glorious from the air. Mafate from the air was just fantastic. It is the cold from the air and would be advisable to wear a Jersey and jacket. This was just terrific and 5 star experience.

Personal service and care with the happiest and coolest ULM's and even a Gyrocopter.
Johnny is the sweetest guy and I had the most amazing flight over the entire island.

Don't hesitate, just go for it. You won't regret flying Zen!

We booked online through the Zen website and received swift and helpful replies from Johnny Vaulbert, the owner, in English. I hold a pilot's licence and always try to do some aerial sightseeing when I'm on holiday in a place I have not visited before.

First of all the aircraft are clean & well maintained, kept secure in the company's own hangar. These are modern very light aircraft that carry one pilot & one passenger and have extremely good performance. They are also very safe especially as they are fitted with a full aircraft parachute system - safety is always the prime factor in flying.

My wife flew in one aircraft and I the other, following each other over the Circes, Rampart and the Volcano crater. The views from 9000feet were incredible and unlike any flying have done in the UK, Scandinavia or Canada. My pilot, Pierre (who is also a flying instructor) speaks excellent English and gave me an interesting and knowledgeable commentary throughout the flight.
My wife, who is a nervous flyer, said she felt reassured by Johnny's calm, professional manner and, although it had been agreed that they would turn back if she felt uncomfortable in any way, she enjoyed every minute and did not notice how quickly the time passed.

The island of Reunion seen from above is a wonderful sight and Zen Altitude are a friendly, professional team of fliers that I have no hesitation in recommending to anyone. Just make sure you camera battery is fully charged!

Wonderful experience to see the island from high above. We were very lucky that the volcano was active. We'll never forget this! Really recommended.

Friendly crew of people, allowing you to get an amazing new point of view on the island.
During the tour, the pilot will point you out the panorama unravelling underneath you. We had the chance to do it during the volcano's eruption in 2015, an that was simply magical!

Booked the ULM "full package" - circuses, volcano and lagoon. As expected, they call the night before to confirm if the weather will be good for the flight to take place. Hotel transfers are included in the price.
Unfortunately, the weather did not improve much from the previous day and half the island was covered in thick clouds - never saw Salazie and the Volcano, but Cilaos, Mafate, Piton des Neiges and the lagoon are breathtaking (literally - you are in an unpressurized little plane and above 10000 ft the air is not enough). You pay for as much as you have flown.
Next time I am going for the gyrocopter !

..... fly over and around the island in a two-seater aicraft with Zen Altitude. The people at Zen Altitude couldn't have been more helpful. I organised a flight with them through a French-speaking friend and they provided info by SMS on weather conditions and whether a flight was possible for two days before conditions were finally OK. This meant that no time was wasted in going to the airport and being disappointed. When conditions were OK the flight (piloted by Patrick) was breathtaking - even though the volcano remained stubbornly cloud-covered. The small aircraft means that the passenger does not have to worry about anyone else's desires - you can be as selfish as you like ! Photography is facilitated by a small "porthole" that the passenger operates; no taking pictures through scratched or dirty perspex. I chose the most expensive option (210 Euros) and thought this excellent value for money - much cheaper than a helicopter flight. I had a 100 minute flight and saw the great sights: Salazie, Trou de Fer, Takamaka, Cilaos, a fabulous circuit around Le Piton des Neiges and around the Cirque de Mafate, all the stunning countryside in between and a flight back along the northwestern coast.

The weather was good but be prepared for quick changes of light and visibility - this isn't a problem, far from it, as the views of, say, Piton des Neiges were varied by the extent of cloud and of changing shadows and light.

The guys at Zen Altitude are friendly and accommodating and even though my French is terrible and their English is limited they went out of their way to be good hosts. They succeeded brilliantly. After the flight the first thing I wanted to do was go around again. If I'm ever back in Réunion I'll be flying with them again.

Great experience thanks to the two very professional and available pilots. Exceptional landscapes to do absolutely. Aircraft in excellent condition, beautiful flight with explanations from the pilot who knows every corner of the island.
