Its literally a big copper statue of Lapu Lapu.
There is also a mural nearby showing the europeans being defeated by his warriors.
Only point of interest is the 2 sides of the commemorative plaque, written at different times, they reflect different ideologies, but its not worth going there for these and the row of badly placed tourist trap shops

Of all the places we were, this was one of the ones that touched us the most, for the sake of being Portuguese and having been the place where Ferdinand Magellan was killed. Unlike everything that surrounds this place, here everything is spacious and minimally organized and careful.
Tributes are paid to Lapu Lapu (named as the first Philippine national hero), the Ferdinand Magellan, commander of the first fleet that circumnavigated the world and all the historical achievements accomplished by the Spaniards in this stoppage.

Lapu-Lapu is the hero for Cebu.
Nice to go and explore the history not very big only took a couple of hours to walk around.
Market stalls available for souvenirs and snacks.
Close to Shangri-La hotel.

Lots of souvenir vendors. Not much there but is of historical significance. Not many people were there the day we were there. 1/2 hour was more than enough although we were offered an opportunity to rent a boat. Still worth a visit if you are looking to do some touristy sightseeing.

The statue is cool to see, but it's just a statue. It doesn't do or say anything. Can't get anything from it, like all other statues. The story behind the statue is interesting. The area the statue is located in is awesome. Lots of restaurants and places for a drink. Nightlife and things to see and do.

It’s quite impressive and the history of the area is fascinating and well explained. Being able to see the actual beach where Magellan was defeated is very important. Try to visit at night when the tide moves out.

Great history great statue. More information would be great. It seams that there is not that much interest in local hero's. Place could do with a clean up and perhaps a cafe. This is one of the few things yo do in the area. Jeepney stops outside.

that was the question i wanted to be addressed. history books were not accurate in detailing about his death.
lapulapu was hailed as the first Philippine hero who fought with all his might and power against the European conquerors who wanted to invade this native’s homeland. eventually, after constant battles and diminishing army, he succumbed to them and converted to Christianity.
take time to take pictures with this statue for posterity. after all, lapulapu was a prominent historical
figure in the Philippines.

This attraction is on the island of Mactan, so it can take a while to get there by taxi, or being daring and using the local 'Jeep' style transport. It is about a 20 minute ride from the international airport. Lapu-Lapu is a local hero having resisted the 'invasion' of the Spanish under Magellan. My understanding that one of Lapu-Lapu's warriors was responsible for the death of this Spanish explorer. The garden setting is relaxing and there are a number of resorts nearby. Local stores and street-side vendors also frequent the area.
Be aware, especially as a 'tourista' and protect your valuables. Just use common sense, I did not experience any problems and I used a range of local transport options.

Why would anyone go here? It's a complete (racist) waste of time. Sickening, even. The whole story of lapu lapu is simply a made up story! It's like a monument to Gandalf or King Arthur.

母子二人で行くのは危険ですか?
娘(8歳)と二人でも昼間ならば比較的安全でしょうか。近くの民芸品店街(屋台?)にも行ってみたいと思っています。
Written June 18, 2018
