Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral

This impressive church looks to me even bigger than the Santo Nino church and maybe as it is a cathedral it appears more grandiose.

Only a block away, and a short walk, from the Basilica del Santo Nino, is the Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral. It’s another building with a nice exterior but it didn’t strike me as being very special. The cathedral only took a few minutes to look inside and I was ready to move on. As it is close to the Basilica, it... More

Since this is a Catholic country it was nice to see one of their older churches. Very old and spiritual, worth the walk if you want to spend a bit of time seeing the local folks.

We went there around 5:30 pm, its almost dark and we really wanted to take a photo with the church as the background. When we set the camera up we thought that it captured our photo but surprisingly it did not. The camera started to capture photos on its own even if no one was hitting the shutter. Its really... well maintained historical and religious place; the church could do better to help the vendors and mendicants around rather than to collect donations for 'church beautification'; just my two cents.

I love the Church, its huge but you will feel the intimacy and sacredness. The altar is very beautiful. There's an on-going wedding when we went there and its just so lovely.

The church ground is huge and beautiful but wait till you enter the church. It is decorated with all sorts of statues and carving and paintings and the altar looks stunning in gold. Good for those who are into churches, building, arts and architecture.

We held our wedding at the cathedral. The priest was absolutely lovely, he did everything to keep us at our ease and make sure that the ceremony went without a hitch.

The cathedral is old on the outside, but very modern on the inside. I wasn't expecting it to be so beautiful inside. I was actually distracted with the very nice architecture while hearing Mass. I really marvelled at the place the whole time. I heaved a heavy sigh of satisfaction when I left the church. My trip to Cebu was... More
