The first church of SinilIn 1599, the supreme government allowed the establishment of a stone church. In 1604, the church was placed under the advocacy of Saints Peter and Paul. The old church was built from 1733 to 1739 under the term of Father Melchor de San Antoniooan, based on the records of Huerta, was dedicated to the Our Lady of Purification.

Like TA member lrayneholley (two revciews prior), I attended Mass on a Sunday morning at 1000 that is conducted in English, in this case by a very pleasant young Filipino priest.

The exterior is beautiful, the interior stunning.

The altar and surrounds is particularly noticeable as it is indeed golden. There is a large statue of Santo Nino along with many of famous saints.

I had visited about a decade ago and remembered it as hot and dusty during Mass.

No more: it is airconditioned, and very effectively.

The priest spoke well about the value of silence. I took that on board.

The Mass was well attended despite being the fourth for the day (with more to come that afternoon.)

The singing of hymns was terrific. Quite a large choir was upstairs, but many in the congregation also sang well, as is typical in Philippines.

Don't miss this wonderful Catholic Church. Please leave a donation of its many good works.

Caritas Manila had an appeal and a stall as it educates 4000 students from poor families in Metro Manila. A wonderful way to spread Christ's love through His Church.

I saw the church during a taxi ride and decided to walk from my hotel back to it later. I was not disappointed. It was a Sunday morning about 9:45am and Mass began at 10. After reading the commemorative plaques and photographing the outside (where overhead cabling ruins the views), I ventured inside where the sanctuary was stunning, especially the altar area that was golden. The ceiling was beautiful and the side areas were too. Since the sanctuary was nearly full for mass, roaming and photography were inappropriate at that time. Mass was as solemn as the interior was beautiful. No doubt, this centuries old holy place was a wonderful experience.

This church is right smack in the middle of Makati. Near enough to the center. The church is very solemn. It is now fully airconditioned.

Among the 1st places that we visited in Manila the day we arrived. It is a beautiful church and we also attended the Sunday mass at 10am. It was the first Advent, so we were lucky to witness the candle lighting ceremony.

Aircon yes... ... sound system so-so... capacity... overcrowded.... and the worst!!!!! From Parking attendants (commercializing the area) TRAFFIC!!!

BUT WHEN paid thr parking attendant 20-30 pesos... your "Holier Than Thou" starts to lessen ...para kang kandiLa ..nauubos ang pasendya why? TRAFFIC ...

This church was a very unique and hispanic view. I was baptized in this church and this church is where I used to visit to pray and thank God for everything.

Have not been here for a while and was pleasantly surprise that it is now airconditioned. It was also renovated. It's more comfortable to stay here and pray. Place is clean and solemn.
