A beautiful building, knowledgeable volunteer who was so friendly explaining the exhibits, pointing us to other spots of interest to visit, offering to call and make reservations for us, etc. The building is gorgeous - and so environmentally conscious. The Exhibit was incredibly moving, interesting, engaging. And, of course, not to be missed: the bronze statue of Harriet Tubman (and the mosaic of her across the street)

I have been to this center many times. It is a great place to get information on the local area and the region. They also have interesting displays about the geographic and cultural area.
The displays are well done to give a background on the suffrage and abolitionist history of the area and state. Many of the displays are interactive with audio and visual displays and signage. They even have a spot to make personal photo postcards.
There is a "Taste of New York" store with many unique items. A small gift shop is also on site. Restrooms are available.
The outside area is a good place to rest and plan your next stop. And close enough to walk the downtown area. Parking is on the street or across the street in the garage. Parking in the garage is free for two hours on the upper levels. There is an elevator in the garage.

Fantastic! We brought friends from Connecticut on a tour of Auburn’s Historic highlights and the ERHC was a big hit. Inside and out, such a gem. We were greet by a gracious, knowledgeable young woman. The statue of Harriet Tubman was stunning.

We weren't quite sure if it was a museum or a visitor's center when we went, but it turns out that it's a little bit of both. The staff member was so pleasant and helpful in pointing out the exhibits and then talking about the surrounding area. It is incredibly helpful in planning out visits to the hundreds of interesting sites around NY that deal with abolition, suffrage, and Native American culture. It does not take long to walk through the exhibit, but it is moving and educational. The store offers a wide variety of food and drink made in NY. It's a really nice little place.

Stopped here when got a bit lost and took a walk around. The people at the front desk were helpful getting info about the town and making suggestions on what to see. They has a nice bathroom and an area to buy local foods (we got some cookies and soda for our hotel room that night). Got some maps and brochures for the area and looked around at some of the exhibit. Mostly copies of signs and about certain famous people in the area. Took a pic by the Harriet Tubman statue and just enjoyed the break.

Highly recommend. We were fortunate during our visit National Park staff and two summer interns were working. Intensive background stories- Harriet Tubman statue and mural; next door is Secretary Seward ‘s home.

So much to see in History's Hometown--this is a good place to start. Historic details--famous (and lesser-known) people--come to life in an open, welcoming setting.

If you need travel brochures/advice this is the place to go! The woman staffing the center when we stopped in was wonderful--very bubbly and quite knowledgeable about everything. I wish we had more time to chat; she was the perfect hostess! I thought there was more to see with the exhibits, but it's only one floor. There's a lot to explore via computers, but after a long day we just didn't have the gumption. However, as noted above this will give you plenty of ideas/material to continue exploring, plus the restrooms are plenty and clean. There's a great statue of Harriet Tubman in the front--let's enhance it even more by adding a labyrinth (a walking meditation) in this courtyard!

Courtney gave our church a tour one Sunday. Very impressive. It is wonderful to see all the area attractions in one place. I am especially impressed by the interactive digital displays. You can do research on area offerings based on your interests, then email the results to your phone.
