Baroque style altars inside
Mar 2020
Rebuilt in the 1770s during Spanish colonial rule, this cathedral is a beautiful landmark building in Trujillo. Inside the Baroque style altars struck me most. The painting work is from later ages and looks quite modern. The cathedral is still the lively center of Roman Catholic life in Trujillo.
Well worth a visit.

We were taken here by a private guide
Dec 2019 • Couples
We were a group of six Adults and we accompanied a private tour guide who gave us some of the history. The town was built around a central town square as most Spanish colonial towns were. There was a beautiful
Church on the central square but we were not able to go inside

Nice paintings

The church is closed most of the time. I found it opened at 6 pm. The roof has pretty paintings in vivid colors, and the altar is beautiful.

Happened upon a wedding

This old cathedral is worth viewing. It is not as ornate as some European church’s, but the art on the walls and ceiling are good to see. The colors are bright, the alcoves hold interesting displays of the life of Christ. You can walk behind the altar to see more of the art. Look up at the ceiling in front of the altar to see a large golden bird. In the right light it shines.

Be aware that the church does not seem to be open for tourists all day. We visited just before the wedding started, but two hours later we walked past and it seemed to be closed.

The square is quite beautiful, especially with all the colors. The cathedral is a must see as is the colonial square.

This is a beautiful church at the Plaza de Armas. It is absolutely beautiful inside. It was crowded but seemed everyone inside was super kind.

Nice murals
Sep 2018 • Couples
This has some interesting murals and paintings. Really you can walk through on less than 30 minutes and see everything. How well you like it depends upon your interest in this type of art. Free entry though so if you have time and it's close to you it is worth a visit.

Grand cathedral
Jan 2018 • Friends
Stopped at the Cathedral on our way between Huaco del Sol y la Luna and Chan Chan. The main square (Plaza del Armas) was being renovated and prepared for the visit of the Pope in January 2018 so we couldn't see much there but the cathedral was open for visitors and very beautiful. Well worth a visit
