Visitors only have access to look at the patio from the door. It does look like a nice old building.

Beautiful courtyard
Oct 2017 • Solo
This house originally belonged to a Spanish count in colonial times. Around 1841 it passed ownership to Juan Manuel Iturregui, a figure from Peru's fight for independence. In the mid 1800s it was considered to be one of the finest houses in all of South America. Today the house is home to the Club Central, an exclusive club for Trujillo's finest families. Most of the building is restricted to members (and their guests) but all visitors can wander in to the first courtyard and visit a room to one side which is used for special exhibits. If you want to see more of the inside, check out their Facebook page.

Ironically, next door is the Casa del Pueblo, a community center operated by the APRA group with services for the poor, cheap lunches, etc. It serves totally the opposite group of people. The central meeting room (open to the public) has a huge permanent exhibit of old photos.

Part of tour of old Trujillo
May 2017 • Couples
There is a lot to see on a walking tour of the older part of Trujillo. We passed by this twice before stopping to take it in. Interesting but we really didn't learn much about colonial Trujillo from seeing it. Somewhat interesting outside decorations and fascades

This mansion is painted in bright yellow colour. At one time it was considered the most beautiful mansion of South America and was built in 1842 in neo classical style by Juan Manuel Iturregui a leader of the independence movement. Ornate iron work protects the windows. I understand that the building interior is very ornate, particularly the gold ceiling mouldings. Restricted visiting, but the exterior and courtyard are worth a look.

The grandeur here is amazing. The old furniture, photos etc are tops. A lot of security here as they watch you like a hawk.
