This neat little town is located about 25 minutes drive outside Puno. Off the beaten tourist track, we visited the 'Fertility temple' (Is it for real?), a couple of old churches, and the 'lover's lookout'. It was relaxing to get away from the throngs of tourists and to walk quiet streets and enjoy observing 'life in Peru'.

This was not at all what I was expecting and it was a treat. I was told that this is the only fertility temple in Latin America. I don't know if that's true or not, but the only other place I've seen anything like this is in India. A lovely, quiet town.

Temple is a bit silly but cute. Church in town square has a very beautiful façade. Good viewing point at the end of colonnade to the left of church entrance. $20 taxi ride for three

It's SMALL. But it is different. It is a very quiet place; Off the beaten path. -- I don't get the sense many people visit it. Ok for a quick side visit because it is so different; but don't expect too much

This was an interesting temple - a little different than most of the other Inca ruins visited. It stands in contrast to the local colonial church.

We spent quite a bit of time here and really enjoyed it. There is wonderful, home cooked food in the square and it is very inexpensive. We also found some great hiking in the hills just beyond the town behind the church. We had herd hiking around Puno could be dangerous but I think this is far enough off the... More

Chucuito for me is a very nice town that has a very nice Inca temple. the town is almost by the lake and except for the main road that goes throw it it's quit quiet.

Probably the main attraction here is the fertility temple which is a pre-incan site with several small penis statues, not something you see everyday. You can even find these symbols on the church next to the temple. The town square is also nice and it has a solar clock.

In this town you can find an archaeological site related to the fertility and an ancient church with some very old paints and how the catholic architects did a mix the catholic and fertility symbols in the church design.
