We saw a lot of Condor when we went. However, you have to be patient and it has to be somewhat warm for them to come out. The canyon has many picture moments while you wait for the Condors at several lookout points. I highly recommend this excursion.

Beautiful view of the lake and town. We did it after our day tour and before sunset. Worth the ~625 steps lots of places to stop. Don’t miss the extra steps to take the condor picture from behind also.

Be sure to be in good shape before attempting to climb to the top. Remember that you are at over 12,000 feet high and climbing at that altitude is not the same as climbing at sea level. That said, the climb to the top is well worth it. Be sure that it's a clear day otherwise the view won't be as great, but on a clear day you will get a great view of Puno and Lake Titicaca. Bring water with you, you will need it. If you are lucky at the top of the climb you may find a little local lady selling water and a few other things. The name Kuntur Wasi translate to "casa del cóndor" or house of the condor. It would be a good idea to go on a group, there is no much police presence in the area. Like anything else be aware of your surroundings.

We caught a taxi up at about 5:45pm to get view of puno at night. Taxi dropped us off. It was deserted- we should have left. Soon after 4 guys appeared, 1 with a gun. We lost our phones, money and camera. We also saw the taxi was still there- we believe they tipped off the men. It's a beautiful lookout but please don't go up at dark. We thought we would be safe. It can happen to anyone.

3 friends and I decided to walk up to the Condor one afternoon around 4:30pm. We of course had all of our phones, cameras and go pro to take good photos. As we were walking up the stairs, we saw tourists coming down and many locals around. We finally got up there, took our photos and when we started walking down, 4 Peruvian men jumped out, one with a gun, pointed it at us yelling in Spanish, shoved my two male friends to the ground and took everything off us. Scariest experience of my life. Apparently quite common as its secluded up there and no roads/cars. The receptionist at our hotel was angry at our group tour guide for recommending it to us, as 'everyone knows the condor is dangerous and renowned for thieves' it was a nice view but in my opinion, not worth the risk. If you do go, go in large groups!!

We (3 Guys) went yesterday for sunset to the condor hill. After taking pictures on the platform a local went up and tell us to leave the plattform for security reason. After 2 Minutes we went down and 3 locals were waiting with a gun in the hand and aiming on us. They took all our cellphones, 3 Gopro, 1 DSLR, 3 Lenses and in total 1000 Sole in cash.

It is a nice view from the mirador ... visit it carefully, especially after 6:00pm!!!

The stairs are about 10 minutes walk from the Plaza de Armas, and then you climb 500 meters (>1500 ft) of stairs to the large condor statue... Definitely not something to do if you are suffering from altitude sickness, but the views are incredible (there are also benches every 10-20 steps so you can rest). There were only two other people at the top when we arrived, and we only saw four people on their way down when we were climbing. The statue has a small staircase inside that you can climb to a deck with a fantastic view - perfect for a panorama of the entire city and lake!

We got a taxi to take us part way up to the Condor lookout, then climbed the rest of the way. Great views of the city and well worth the effort. Just take time, and water.

Reaching this nice viewpoint involves walking up about 600 Steps. But the view worths it. You have whole view of Puno and part of the lake. You can even walk from Plaza or take a taxi to drop you by near the place(4 soles). If you have spare time in Puno, go and have a look,

The Hotel told us it is not a safe area, that's why we have been there by taxi. The taxi was waiting there for 30 minutes for us. (15 Soles) But then you have to climb 360 steps... it's very exhausting. The view on the top is very very nice.
