Having slogged up yet another hill in the thin air, the view was wonderful, and totally unexpected. Watching a man herding animals at the base of the cliff made it so real.

The best vantage point to view Lake Umayo is from the top of the Sillustani Tombs site. The lake is a beautiful blue lake. There is an island in the lake that has a wonderful mesa on the top of it, so the island is...More

The water on Lake Umayo was very calm, flat, and peaceful looking the afternoon we visited Sillustani where the ancient tomb towers are located. Once at the top, we could see the lake all around and it was beautiful. There were a couple of small...More

The burial towers here are a marvel of antique buildings. The overall setting enjoys stunning scenery. Learning of the agriculture in the area added to the appeal of our visit.

We went to Lake Umayo as part of the trip to Sillustani but you will need to climb up past Sillustani to see the lake. From what I could see, this lake is higher than Lake Titicaca and we could all see a boat navigating...More

The Chullpas de Sillustani are perched on the edge of Lake Umayo. If you visit here, you will find yourself a couple of hundred feet above it, with its mysterious flat-topped island in the middle. It's a pretty breath-taking view looking out onto it, and...More

This is another lake, not too far from the Titicaca. It's very nice and it surrounds the hill where the Sillustani ruins are.
