We booked our expedition to meet the pumas of Patagonia with Untamed Expeditions for departure in March 2020. With a late-stage covid pandemic cancellation forced upon us all, when we finally reached Patagonia with Naun two years later we had a feeling of euphoria and triumph from the outset. That was only the start, by the end of our time in the field it’s hard to put into words how we felt, it was just perfection in Patagonia.
Naun is a great guide, he made sure he knew what we wanted from the trip and went out of his way to meet all our expectations. We started our expedition unexpectedly a day early because our arrival schedules allowed that and we had a great free bonus day with Skunks, Black Chested Buzzard Eagles, Caraca, Austral Pigmy Owl and Austral Parakeet. Then came the two extension trips in the deep south, Condors and Penguins, both unmissable experiences. It was clear from the outset that Naun knows these lands and the wildlife intimately.
Untamed Expeditions had booked a stunning hotel for us on the edge of the Torres Del Paine National Park, and as we drove north we were horrified to drive straight past the entrance. Naun said he had something to check out first, and a few minutes later we were on a river bank photographing a mother Puma and two cubs in the sunset light. There were tears of emotion and joy, an incredible first meeting of the elusive Puma.
Over the next few days we met 15 Pumas, countless guanacos, birds, foxes, rhea all against the incredible backdrop of the Torres Del Paine region. The photography was breathtaking, the memories precious and visceral. Naun gets you in position to nail the shot, anticipate the action and work with the best backgrounds.
Thank You Naun, we cannot imagine how we could experience a more magical 10 days, but we know that the next time we journey together, that’s what you will achieve! We can’t recommend Untamed Expeditions highly enough.

Feb 2020, just before Covid 19 brought my international travels to a standstill i was in Lima for a work meeting. Untamed Expeditions organised an personalised birding trip for me in Northern Peru for a few days following my meeting. Naun Amable Silva guided for me, as usual, providing excellent birding and photography advice. We had a wonderful few days, stayed in perfect places for the best birding and found some amazing birds including the marvellous spatuletail. I wouldn't do a birding or wildlife trip in Latin America with anyone else. My husband and I went to Ecuador with Untamed in November 2019 and they are currently organising Colombia for June 2021.

We travelled to Patagonia with Untamed Expeditions to see pumas and were treated to a truly exceptional experience. Life is often full of grey days of mundanity and mediocrity but not when you are fortunate to be guided by Naun. He works extremely hard all the time to get you into the right places at the best times of day so that you capture the best images possible. Not for Naun the rigid itinerary of back by lunchtime; if you are at an amazing sighting, he is happy for you to stay as long as you wish. Tracking these big cats on foot was exhilarating but we never felt in danger due to his tireless professionalism, as well as our tracker Junior Mendes. One of the top wildlife trips we have been lucky to go on. Do yourself a favour and book with Untamed!!

I’m back from my second visit to the Pantanal with Untamed Expeditions, and once again I was completely overwhelmed by the quality of the tour. Thanks to Naun’s expert guiding and keen eye, the photography was absolutely out of this world. Naun has incredible spotting skills, and an encyclopedic knowledge of the jaguars and all the bird species. On our many jaguar sightings, Naun would ensure that our boat was positioned for the optimum photo, rather than join the middle of a large ‘boat jam’. I have been on many photo tours, and I can attest that Naun is the ideal photography guide. He works very hard for you and strives to make your experience the best ever. Even if you are not a professional photographer, you will appreciate the difference between an Untamed Expeditions tour and a standard Pantanal trip.

Naun Silva coordinated a trip of a lifetime and was an extremely talented guide. He predicted jaguar activities beautifully and was so very knowledgeable about all things birds. Great accommodations (Panamerica Flotel), excellent food, and more jaguars than you could imagine. We never went a day without having an excellent jaguar experience, and most days we had several. I highly recommend Naun of Untamed Expeditions for your future jaguar experience in the Pantanal of Brazil.

The untamed puma expedition to Patagonia was organised by Naun Amable Silva. From picking me up in Punta Arenas to dropping me off at Punta Arenas well in time for my flight, he was outstanding. This was a solo expedition without any other travellers.
Since I am a vegetarian, Naun arranged for food in each place to my taste and interest. The room was a bit cold and he made sure to get an extra heater in my room. His attention detail was excellent.
The pumas themselves were absolutely awesome. He found many pumas each day and got me across the terrain (I am not a trekker) without difficulty. He got us into good positions for photographing the pumas without any danger to the puma and to us. The pumas were in an adjoining private property to the Torres del Paine national park, meaning we could go on foot and off trail with permission from the private owner.
Naun himself is great company, has a sense of humour and is very friendly. It made for an even better trip.

Untamed Expeditions arranged a wildlife trip for my husband and I in Peru in May this year. They organised a great itinerary in the north and south of Peru, with time also in Cusco. Naun Amable Silva was our guide. He is an excellent birder and and helped me enormously with my photography. In addition to being a great guide, he is fun to be around and we all got on extremely well. The places we stayed all offered the best wildlife viewing in the area. Naun quickly picked up on our particular interests and went out of his way to accommodate them. Untamed Expeditions is a small, new company so don't expect slick brochures or beautiful itineraries with stock footage pictures. You will however get personalised service, itineraries that match your interests and a passionate, highly experienced guide. We are already planning trips to Patagonia and Colombia with Untamed Expeditions and, if we can fit it in, back to Peru and Brazil also.

I'm just back from my second trip with Untamed Expeditions, this time to the Brazilian Pantanal. Just like my puma trip in 2017, Naun delivered exceptional results and he worked tirelessly to ensure that we had the best possible experience. As a photographer, I need a guide that can not only find the animals but also anticipate their movement and be able to get in the best spots for images. Naun understands this perfectly, and I now have a hard drive stuffed with trophy shots that attest to that. In terms of travel logistics, Naun ensured that everything flowed smoothly and all our needs were well taken care of. I've been on many trips with many guides but I can't think of anyone else with such a keen eye and encylopedic knowledge of every species. I'm looking forward to my next trip with Untamed Expeditions -- hopefully soon!

During the craziness of this past year, being able to take a trip with Untamed Expeditions was just the ticket to lift ones’ spirits! The team at Untamed Expeditions, especially the lead guide and co-founder Naun worked diligently to plan the perfect trip for me to Northern Peru – of course with all of the recommended social distancing/ health precautions followed throughout.
This trip dubbed “Birds of Northern Peru” was one of the best photographic trips I have ever taken, with endless opportunities to photograph beautiful birds, even some endangered Peruvian endemics! I have to say that the time we spent photographing the Marvelous Spatuletail and the Rio Mayo Titi Monkey are definitely at the top of my all-time favorite photographic experiences list! It is hard for me to find the words to express how much this trip lifted my spirits and warmed my heart. How great it was to spend time in the beautiful area of Northern Peru, while supporting the hard-hit travel/tourism industry. The trip was executed in a very professional manner and was a beautiful experience for me! I am an amateur wildlife photographer that is just starting to find her feet, but with the expert guidance of Naun and Untamed Expeditions this trip produced two photos that have been short-listed in major competitions! (Fingers crossed, final results still pending)
So, if you are looking for a quality wildlife photography trip in South America, Untamed Expeditions is the way to go. I already have my next photography trip with them planned to Colombia!

Thank you Lindsay for this wonderful review, and for making the effort to visit Peru in this difficult time. It also allowed us to escape briefly from the madness and spend some time in nature which we have all greatly missed during this global lock down.
We are so honored and glad that we were able to provide you with a trip that resulted in so many beautiful photographs! And we had some new experiences too!
See you again in Colombia - we think you will love it even more!

This was our 4th trip with Untamed Expeditions (Pantanal, Peru, Costa Rica, and now Patagonia).
Again with Naun Amable Silva as our guide, the trip exceeded all expectations - we met Naun in El Calafate at the airport, and spent a memorable time viewing glaciers (by kayak as well as by boat). His restaurant research permitted us to eat really well. We then proceeded by road to Torres Del Paine on the Chilean side, and had a fantastic time staying at Tierra Patagonia and had 6 days tracking pumas. Naun harnessed the "godfather of puma tracking" in Patagonia, Roberto Donoso, as tracker and we had magnificent sightings. Naun and Roberto have an arrangement with the ranch immediately bordering the national park and were able to traverse this huge ranch which is the habitat for many pumas. Other operators or guests from all the local lodges have to hope to glance at a puma far away from the road, as they may not enter the private property of the ranch - therefore, if you want to see pumas, you really must engage Untamed Expeditions for the best close-up and personal sightings. We spent the mornings and afternoons going up and down hills looking for the cats and Roberto's eagle eyes hardly ever miss a cat. We saw lots and lots of pumas - totally magical. Naun is a leading wildlife photographer and is happy to advise and coach - also to lend his huge lens.
After Torres del Paine we headed to Punta Arenas and beyond to see penguins and to go birding - again, Naun's bird knowledge is encyclopaedic.
We are now arranging a trip with Untamed Expeditions to Ecuador for November 2019.

Hello,
Staff members of UE visited Namibia. It was their first trip to Africa and they had an amazing time. They stayed 2.5 months in total, mostly at a private reserve called Okonjima, home to the AfriCat Foundation. There they saw leopards, giraffe, zebras, baboons, many kinds of antelope, brown and spotted hyenas, as well as aardvark, aardwolf and even pangolins!
They also visited the Caprivi to see the bird life, and there they got to see hippos and elephants in great number. They visited Etosha where they saw cheetahs, lions, leopards, elephants, rhinos and more. And finally they did a short trip to Swakopmund where they did the living desert tour with Batis Birding, as well as a full day birding trip with them looking for local endemics and other coastal birds.
