We went on a three day tour with Elmer and it was probably a highlight of my trip to Peru. He's really passionate about the jungle and taking care of its resources and inhabitants. He's open, friendly, engaging, and thoughtful. He prepared us for every step and detail of the way. For example, he advised us to buy water while we were still in Puerto Maldonaldo to save money since bottled water is more expensive when you're in the jungle. In a way, I regret that he was our first tour guide in Peru as he became the gold standard for tour guides. We saw a lot of animals. Elmer's observation skills were amazing. Also, his photography skills. Go on a tour with him and you'll see! ;) Whenever we needed anything, he was there to help us. It was a smooth and easy trip and we could trust that Elmer has us covered. Bonus: this is a small business operation, run by Elmer and Alex. If you want to support small businesses, go with these guys.

My experience in Amazonia was amazing. I strongly recommend it to everyone that loves nature and wants a unique experience. My trip was so incredible thanks to the tour agency Tambopata Giant Otter Expedition. Mr. Elmer Cereceda was my tour guide and I can swear that he is the best one that I had in my long journey in Perù. If you are thinking to do a tour like that I recommend you a very trustable agency like this because the Amazon could be dangerous without a guide that knows precisely what to do and has good knowledge about animals and plants. This agency did everything possible to help me with every single problem. They picked me up from the bus terminal, gave me a lot of information about solutions against mosquitos and tips about the trip in general. I had my bus to leave really late during the night and they let me stay in their office for the whole day practically and then drove me to the bus station. Highly professional and a great experience, would recommend it to anybody

We went for 4 day 3 night trip with Tambopata Giant Otter Expeditions during 2019 November after considering few other travel agencies in Puerto Maldonado. Alex and Elmer spoke good English and was enthusiastic in explaining all the details we wanted to know. The entire tour was very comfortable and the experience was really amazing. We highly recommend them!

After having initially thinkng of going to Pacaya Samiria in search of giant otters, a friend of mine Miles Buesst who runs Peru North, a fantastic travel company for offbeat holidays in Peru, suggested I could try Lake Sandoval, which is a much cheaper option and far more likely a place to see these amazing mammals. WE WERE NOT DISSAPPOINTED. We saw 10 wild mammals in 3 days, including an hour of Giant Otters fishing. We got to around 15 meters away from them, when they had caught a fish and were fighting over it. The sunsets were amazing, the food was good, but you don't go for food. THe accomadation could have been a little better, but it didn't get in the way of total satisfaction. It was fantastically organised from start to finish, and the guide gave us T-shiorts as memorabilia! 100% Holiday, I'll be back, as I am lucky, I only live in Lima! IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR WILDLIFE UP CLOSE, YOU CAN'T DO BETTER THAN THIS!

We went on the 3 days 2 nights trip in early/mid September: Before the trip: Communication with Alex was very easy and prompt over emails. We initially asked to be on a 3 day trip but on the day the trip was to start, I want feeling well and called him early in the morning to ask if it was okay to have it changed to 2 days instead. He was very obliging and said it was okay. However, I started feeling better and when we actually arrived at Puerto Maldonado, I changed my mind again and asked if we could do the 3 days tours instead. Elmer was the one to pick us up and he said that they had reshuffled everything to fit into the 2 days instead. He called the lodges up and had everything re-organise for us for 3 days (clearly we were not the easiest customers of theirs). We ended up having a private your with elmar for the entire 3 days. During the tour: We were lucky enough to spot some local animals and plenty of birds. Elmar was an amazing guide and was always on the look out. He spotted the otters from afar and had excellent ears for the different sounds the jungle had to offer! As a person, you could tell that he was very genuine and nice and this was evident over the 3 days we spent with him! The first night we stayed at the diamond lodge off the river banks, this was pleasant and they had wifi in the dining area. The second night was spent in the reserve itself with very basic accommodation. They were both clean though. Food wise, it was pretty simple throughout. It is the jungle after all, so, if you're expecting a luxury holiday, this is not it! After the tour: We had a couple of hours to spend after the tour and decided to have lunch at Elmar's family restaurant. After the jungle, this was luxury and delicious- highly recommend the rice with omelette, lentils and fried chicken! Overall: we are very glad we went with Alex and Elmer and highly recommend this tour. Just be prepared as this is a jungle tour and is not luxurious.
