The largest church in Encarnacion, the cathedral is still relatively small, but nonetheless very interesting. Since there's so little to see in the town, this is thus becomes a 'must see' stop. A modern structure, with modern decor, there's still some interesting stained glass and the frieze behind the altar is also worth checking out.

This cathedral was open and kept in very good shape. Interesting mural of the last supper on the wall behind the altar.

I'm an atheist, but I do like cathedrals and church history, so it was interesting that my guide took me here. One of the things I loved was the whiteness of the building inside and out and its simplicity. Best of all was the simple lined painting of the last supper behind the altar if I was religious this would be the perfect worshiping place. Quiet and simple.

This Cathedral is very well done, with superb architecture on the outside, and a very clean and modern design on the inside.

Very peaceful

Full disclosure here... I have a thing for churches. This cathedral is a beautiful one both inside and outside. I attended mass a few Sundays ago while visiting Encarnacion a couple of weeks ago and was fortunate enough to experience the inside of the cathedral as it was meant to be. I was beautiful in a simple way (not too ornate) which speaks to me.

Being ever so fortunate in my timing of my visit, I was able to attend a concert that night at the cathedral which was one of my highlights during my trip to Paraguay. The concert was performed by young adults (high school age I believe) and I was floored by how good they were. Combining the talents of this wonderful group of musicians with the inner beauty of the cathedral made for a most memorable evening.

Needless to say and as you can tell, I am quite fond of the cathedral.

Quiet place with history and nice to meet. Outside is a wooden cross that recalls the visit of John Paul II to the city.
