This is the river bank turned into a beach in the city centre. It's deserted during the day as everyone is having a siesta during the hot humid hours, but at night it livens up and is a romantic place to walk.

This is a wonderful beach on the Parana River, with a view of Posada, Argentina on the far shore. It's a wide beach with fine sand (no gravel !) and offers a variety of options for food and beverages at the edge of the beach. It's also very secure - there's a police patrol, but I never saw the need... More

We walked around encarnacion all day and it was pretty boring to tell you the truth. We were s little disappointed that lonely planet had mentioned it as a top place to visit in South America because it made us add it to our travel plans. When we got to the beach at around 7pm on the first day we... More

the "encarncaenos" know how to take care of the beach! it´s allways clean, there is some recent history around this place, because some neighborhoods where flooded by the Yacyreta-dam, and so playa San José was born! The only thing i don´t like is the loud music at the shops and restaurants at the beach.

During the heat of the day (during the week at least) it's deserted and there is absolutely no shade. But the place comes to life around sunset and most of the beach bars/restaurants begin to open around 5pm. At both ends of the beach there are very clean toilet blocks (white buildings, 2000G) and there are a heap of volleyball... More

good for paraguay, since there are no ocean beaches. nice and clean with life guards. we were there in winter so not many people, we could imagine how this place comes to life in the summer months. very clean and tidy and well maintained.

A Vraiment clean beach. You can swim in the river but NOT beyond the yellow buoys. There's an exercise park. Go for sunset... its quite amazing!

Ideal for families. Good room for running, biking, beach wandering, and just hanging out. No public bathrooms in sight or at least not obviously so.
