Very pleasant lake and park to stroll around in the centre of the city. Nice change from the hustle and bustle of the shopping.

Nice area for a walk or some exercises. You will always find people doing exercises during the afternoon

While in Ciudad Del Este with its heavy traffic and noice I was longing for a more serene part where I could walk. I found it at Lago de la Republic, a few blocks from our hotel (Hotel Convair). We did not have time to walk all around the lake but we hiked a healthy portion of it. Supposedly there are caymans or crocodiles in the lake, but we did not spot them. Regardless, it was interesting to observe the various homes along the way, the fauna and flora and the other hikers and runners. There are several snack shops and coffee shops along the way. Next time I will hike around the whole lake.

The newly improved Lao de la Republica is a nice place to take an afternoon walk.
A few places to eat or drink are close by and the different paths create a varied walk.
