The Panama Railroad is an old train that is excellently maintained, and runs from Colon to Panama city. The carriages are very comfortable and refreshments in the form of a lunch box and soft and alcoholic drinks are available; you can also ride in the 'dome car' which is higher than the other carriages and has a glass roof. The... More

It was great seeing the entire length of the canal and hearing the history of how the canal was constructed and seeing so much wilderness around the train. The glass should be replaced inside the train it was really scratched up however there were a few carts you could stand out on halfway down the train. We all enjoyed this... More

An old train that is well maintained on the inside cars. The viewing from the cars is pretty cool. We saw monkeys, some interesting birds and parts of the canal. Only about a 90 minute trip from end to end.

Beautiful view of the Panama Canal and man made Gatun Lake. If you enjoy meeting people from different parts of the world this is definitely one way that can be done. One way trip takes about 50 minutes. Once you get to Colon, be sure and have prearranged transportation or you will definitely be taken advantaged of and charged too... More

An old train that has been restored to give rides to tourists. I absolutely loved the old school train, it was like something in Indiana Jones or similar. Nice journey through the lakes and jungle, and the open carriages were a nice touch. The only thing I disliked about this trip was the fact we only went on the train... More

The train ride is wonderful with great visibility in the dome cars. However the seating is a bit snug at the tables. If you're a big person you might consider an alternative.

We drove to Colon and spent the day touring the west side of the city including the observation center for the Gatun Locks expansion (excellent), abandoned Fort Sherman(okay), Shelter Harbor Marina (good), and Fuerte San Lorenzo (excellent). We parked the car, picked up the train at 5:15 PM and had a delightful ride to Albrook for an overnight. The next... More

The Panama Canal Train is a fascinating visit and a practical way of getting from Colon to Panama City. The line runs through the jungle parallel to the canal and lake Gatum. The train has a great viewing car and open platforms at the end of each carriage so great for photography. If anything they don't make enough of this... More

Did this as a shore excursion. The ride was very nice and we did have dome car. You could go out back and stand in a small covered area to feel the wind and try to make some pictures. It doesn't go by much of the canal but the jungle is pretty. We had a nice snack box and they... More
