Jason Lara picked us up, asked us what we were hoping to see, took us to the perfect place and made it possible for us to see a wide variety and great number of birds. He is a generous, compassionate young man with a great deal of knowledge about birds and an uncanny ability to hear and identify specific birds, set up his scope in lightning speed so we can get a close view of the bird, in addition to telling us where to look with the binoculars he supplied, AND he photographed or videoed several of them with my phone. With much experience, he knew where to look for the elusive Quetzal and we spent quite awhile witnessing its beauty, as he took video and photos of the male on my phone through the scope, for us to enjoy for a long time. A delightful morning spent. He then took us to a local coffee/ farm cafe where we saw a few more birds and then he treated us to a cup of coffee or tea, as we sat outside in comfy chairs; enjoying our beverages and chatting together we watched the visitors to the nearby bird feeder. He then drove us back to our place. We can't recommend him enough.

My husband and I spent two mornings birding with Jason Lara in late February and would give him 10 stars if we could. He is one of the best guides we have had in 10 years of birding. He knows just where to find the birds and knows what he is hearing in the rainforest. Jason is fun to bird with; his English is excellent and his knowledge of birds is top notch. He gets a bird in the scope within seconds of finding them. We saw three Quetzals and he “digiscoped” them for me on my phone. Could not have been happier with our experience. Hope to go back and be able to bird with him again. A+++++++

Fortunately we managed to secure a half day bird watching with Jason, and he did great. We took the Pipeline Trail, which is one of the easier ones in Boquete, and were so lucky we saw 3 quetzals (2 males and 1 female). One of the males was really close, about 10 meters (33 feet) and in the light, so we could take nice pictures. Jason also showed us the three wattled bellbird at the Quetzal Trail, which was quite a sight! Jason has a very pleasant personality, speaks English very well, so if you want to see some nice birds I can highly recommend him!

We went to Boquete recently and had Jason for 2 half-days for birding. We had my son along with us (he is also very into birds and nature photography). Jason took us to the Pipeline Trail and Birding Paradise. We had a great time -- Jason was great at recognizing and spotting birds. More importantly, he was good at helping us spot the birds. He is also really good at digiscoping. The pictures he took with my phone on his scope are great and he got some pics there that I couldn't with my camera setup. Jason was also very good with my son -- answering his questions and helping him find and talk pics of birds. In fact, my son said his best experience in Panama was birding with Jason.

My husband and I are novice bird photographers. Jason Lara was recommended to us and we were not disappointed! His English is excellent, he is very amicable and personalized the tour just for us. His knowledge of the birds in Panama is amazing! He took us to three different sites to show us as many varieties as possible including the quetzals. We were able to spend as much time as we wanted taking pictures and we never felt rushed. We definitely will use him again!
