My girlfriend and I were put in touch with Oscar, at Explora Ya, by our host of our AirB&B and we're very glad she did. Our experience was amazing. We coordinated the trip, via e-mail, from the states. Oscar was very friendly and quick in getting back to us. We asked about hiking up the Volcan Baru to see the sunrise. Oscar was very polite and explained we would leave at 11pm, the night before, and hike for six hours. He then went on to explain another option of taking a Jeep ride up the mountain and leaving at 4am. That turned out to be a much wiser choice. Oscar and the driver were right on time. The vehicle was in good shape and Oscar explained that it was a very rough, four-wheel drive rode. He was right. Throughout the trip, Oscar emphasized safety, and made sure we were well strapped into the Jeep. At the top, he had hot coffee and sandwiches for us. A welcome snack at 0 degrees Celsius, on Panama's highest point, in September. There were some folks who had hiked up and Oscar was happy to point out for them where the best viewing was. He also made sure people were safe and understood where the trail was. If I could give Oscar credit for the weather, I would. It was near perfect; especially when one considers we were in the rainy season. The sunrise was awesome and, as high up as we were, we were able to see the Caribbean, near Bocas del Toro, in the East, and the Pacific, in the west. It was an amazing experience. The real impressive thing, with Oscar, was his concern for how we left the area and assuring there was no trash left; by our group or the other people. Also, his concern for others who had hiked up. There was one solo hiker that we met on the way down, who was still working toward the summit. Oscar got his information and relayed it to the park ranger at the entrance. Watching all of this, I knew we were in good hands. We definitely would recommend Oscar and his company, Exploration Ya. We plan on visiting Panama again and will definitely be booking additional trips with him.

We did a half day walking tour to the 3 waterfalls with Oscar. The hike got challenging for me at times but Oscar was always helpful and putting safety first. The views on this tour were breathtaking. We also did a half day biking tour with Israel who was knowledgeable and kind. This was my favorite tour ever! The exercise, the views of both villages and nature. And finally bathing in both the thermal waters and then the river at Caldera. On both tours we were impressed by their punctuality and professionalism.

My friends and I did the half day Coffee Plantation and City tour. Felix was a terrific tour guide and very knowledgeable. We learned a LOT about coffee and got to explore the environs of Boquete without having to worry about driving the crazy roads!

We did the coffee tour and panoramic. We had a great experience. And took a few great photos for the instagrams. It felt like a very personalized experience but not exactly cheap at $64 per person. The one downside was they took us to tito's farm but it was really tiny. Like a 2 man operation. That did allow us more personalize photos but we did feel like we missed out on something.

I just returned from Medellin's Flower Festival tour with Oscar Pena at Explora Ya. It was an incredible trip! I had such a great experience that I can't wait to go on his Christmas Lights tour of Medellin. Oscar Pena, of Explora Ya, put together an exquisite tour of Medellin at this very special time of year. We saw the inner workings of the Flower Festival, attended flower parades with the world famous silleteros, heard its history and visited the farm of one of Medellin's major flower growers and festival participants. And, of course, viewed the gorgeous flowers. We saw Medellin sights, learned about old and "newer" city history. Then we visited several unique historic villages just to get a view of some smaller towns without all the big city "busyness". Oscar has a unique tour because he was born and raised in Colombia. He is excited to share his country with others. He's an excellent tour guide speaking both Spanish and English and his enthusiasm is contagious. He wants you to have a good time. so he presents a variety of experiences. He's attentive, tries to accomodate people whenever possible, and thinks ahead about what people's needs might be. He and the tour get a 10 in my book.
