My wife and I did the 5 hour West Salalah tour with Karel Tomastik on 8 February 2020.
Pick up time was 9am and he arrived at our hotel right on time. It was a surprise to us that Karel was Czech. My wife is Czech too so they conversed in Czech occasionally during our trip.
Karel also speaks perfect English and Arabic. He has a Master's degree from Charles University in Prague, in Arabic language and History of the Middle East.
Karel was excellent in his knowledge of all the areas we visited, and we appreciated his additional commentary while driving about the history of the region. His driving was excellent and the car we travelled in was clean, comfortable, and in excellent condition.
Karel didn't rush us at all, letting us explore the places at our leisure, considering we had to be back at our hotel at 2pm so we could shower, clean up, and check out by 2.30pm. We stopped off at the Al Hafa Fort Market where my wife bought a cashmere scarf and we also bought some Frankincense products.
We arrived back at our hotel at 2pm. Overall, excellent tour and we appreciated Karel for his knowledge, driving, commentary, and not rushing us. We recommend Takamui Travel for your Salalah tours.

The water stream area within Ayn Razat is quite nice and certainly a gathering place for many looking for cooler places. It almost looks fairy-like in a desert surrounded atmosphere. We walked up to a cave from which we had a better perspective of the whole area. We came across several people having lunch out in the open.

I realized 4 tours with Takamul Travel in December 2021. This Mountain Safari was one of them. Our guide and driver Karel is excellent and skilled driver as well expert for Omans’ history, people, habits etc. We got a lot of information about this beautiful country and we saw many exiting landscape places.
I recommend Karel and his services to everybody who would like to explore Oman.
P.S.: Besides this tour we had Half day in desert tour (the best because I’m keen on photography), The Odyssea on West coast and Far East tour.

We had an incredible experience with my family in the mountain, with incredible view.
Our stay wont have been so amazing without the extensive knowledge of the guide Mr Karel Tomastik who speaks English, French, Arabic , Czech and maybe more.

West Dhofar is really beautiful. We visited many places in the area thanks to the excellent guide Karel from Takamul Travel in Salalah. The West Dhofar Odyssey is really worth a visit.

The tour itinerary itself was fine and covered the main attractions well (although East Salalah seems more picturesque). However I was a little disappointed by my guide (Karel), although he was entirely polite to me and full of factual and numerical information about the area he made a few comments about the local Omani population that I found distasteful and spent quite a lot of time on his phone. Examples of the comments include "They go to school but don't learn much", "Its unsettling for Europeans to see how the women dress here, they are covered and look like they are dressed for a funeral" & "The Omanis don't have much entrepreneurial spirit, they aren't good entrepreneurs", even if you think those things are true I'm not sure why anyone would say them out loud. I came away without a local feel for the area and culture and with the impression that he wasn't really passionate about Oman and was there just to make money. Shame.

The mosque and the Frankincense museum are worth seeing. A very clean and pretty small city. You only need a few hours. We did not go to the beach. Our guide Said was very nice and informative. Unfortunately he was not allowed to enter the port to pick us up. We had to take a shuttle bus to a mall to meet up with him. Definitely a drawback to the excursion.

We felt totally safe in Karel’s capable and
caring hands. His knowledge of the area and Arabic countries in general is really impressive. The hike is manageable for inexperienced but fit middle aged people too.
