Poor management of visitor expectations left an unsavoury taste in our mouths. We had checked beforehand with the administration as to what hours they were open. The confrimed the times of opening and yet when we turned up on the day we discovered the gates locked and a small notice pinned to the fence stating they were '' temporarily closed''.... More

Enchanting caves in the middle of nowhere! The most interesting was the underground rock pool with transparent fish, since they never experienced daylight. They are fairly large, but nowhere near as extensive as the cango caves in South Africa.

Really wanted to see this - couldn't figure out how... The website is inactive - no one responded to our email to make a reservation. Not sure how you actually get in for a visit. Best to plan ahead as its a long drive to be locked out!

This is a famouse tourist spot people are talking about in Nizwa area. The cave is closed more than two years before. But there is no information on any of the sign boards leadind to the place. Easy to access from Misfat Al Abreyeen.

So much for promoting tourism in Oman. The caves are still closed, no signs to explain anything. Tried the website, nothing!! Tried the phone numbers, no response. It is shameful that the Ministry of Tourism has allowed this to be the case with no indication of future opening. This is so typical!!!

The only reason this review has a 1 is because I've attempted to visit a few times but the caves have been shut. I spoke to a local concierge who informed me that they have been shut for a couple of years now.

I've travelled a long way to visit these caves... twice (2014 and 2015). Both times it was marked "closed". I'd tried sending an email beforehand (no response) and phoned (no answer). Afterwandering around outside for half an hour I discovered there was a secutity guard inside the gate house when he let a car in. he hadn't bothered to leave... More
