We took the half day cruise, this is the second time we have done this and it was just as good as the first time - Brilliant and great value for money. If you are taking the trip while your cruise ship is in port, don't waste your money on buying it through the cruise company, the dhow companies have many dhows and their tour people are waiting right by the port gate to book you on a dhow - it's a fraction of the cost that you would pay the cruise company.
You pay in Dirhams or Euros - I think it works out to approximately £20 per person. The cost is 25 Euros or 77 Euros if you buy your ticket off the ship - triple the money for the same trip - crazy!!
The dhow will take you sailing through azure waters between high mountains and into the fjords - it's so majestic and the waters are calm.
A stop is made for swimming and snorkeling and dolphins will swim along side the dhow frequently jumping out of the water. The snorkeling equipment is available on board so it is not necessary to take your own.
Refreshments are offered free of charge on board, coffee, fresh fruits, soft drinks and water.
You can sit in the sun or in the shade on the dhow and they hold approximately 24 people.
It's a great trip - don't miss it.

We enjoyed our half-day trip in the fijords of Khasab. The scenery is fantastic. The tour operators included fruit and non-alcoholic beverages. We saw lots of dolphins and the boat's captain would explain some of the surrounding areas to us. We were on a cruise and found this tour that was considerably cheaper than the one offered by the cruise line. We were met at the dock and there were no issues getting to the tour. Would definitely recommend!

We arrived on a MSC cruise ship with a day in Khasab and picked them up by chance after deciding to give the extortionate rates charged by the ship a miss. In the end we probably paid a third by organising directly with KST, one of the companies eager for your business when disembarking the cruise port. A five minute minibus ride out of the main dock and we were jumping on board our dhow. Joining a group of mostly Italians, we had a great half-day cruise that lasted for around 3.5 hours in which time we managed to see some stunning Fjord-like coastline, watch the playful dolphins race the dhow and then snorkel off Telegraph Island. Strangely the Europeans didn’t fancy seeing the wonderful fish and coral, our family were the only ones to go in the water although there were plenty of others from the 3 or 4 other dhow boats there at the time. The captain helped make the experience, letting any of the passengers pose for photos pretending to steer the ship and did a great job with the dolphin watching. Fruit and soft drinks were thrown in.

We had booked from Khasab Sea Tours (KST) already in November 2016 a full day private dhow cruise to Kumzar Village for 2 persons including VISITING the village for 11 August 2017. On arrival at KST’s office in Khasab on 10 August 2017, we paid AED 2000 for the trip.
For visiting Kumzar one is required to have a permit to be arranged by a tour company, in our case KST.
On 11 August 2017, at our arrival there at about 12:00 noon local time, the skipper of your dhow told us that he was unable to bring us ashore to visit Kumzar village, because his dhow had too much draft. Bobbing in front of Kumzar for an hour or so, the skipper was trying to phone some people.
KST had obviously failed to arrange for someone capable to sail a flat bottomed boat to bring us ashore. They also had not organized a tender to be tied to the dhow. The skipper himself could have brought ashore, after he had dropped anchor.
Therefore, we could not go ashore to visit Kumzar village. The only other option was to tie the vessel up at the dock which involved a one way walk of at least 30 minutes.
On 11 August 2017, Kumzar village reached midday temperatures of soaring 38°C in the SHADE. In the SUN the temperatures would have been much higher. Walking in the sun to the village and return would have caused us heat exhaustion, if not a heat stroke.
We did not pay 2000 AED for being skippered around for a few hours without seeing anything, not even dolphins. The purpose of booking AND paying for this trip was VISITING Kumzar village in person.
On our return from a world trip, we informed KST immediately by email requesting a refund for NOT being able to visit Kumzar village because of their firm’s failure to organize a flat bottomed boat or a tender tied to the dhow.
We attached copy of our entire correspondence to our email. We did so twice, requesting a return receipt with highest priority. None of our emails were answered, let alone Khasab Sea Tours confirming a refund.
You better stay away from them!

There are at-least 4 tour companies available in Musandham and unfortunately we went to these guys.
Tour started at 0930 and at around 1100 we were at the middle of the ocean and the boat engine died. No tour guide present and the boat driver (captain) not saying anything. We had to sit for 1 hr in the hot sun to get another boat to rope us to telegraph island. Again another 30 min to trouble shoot the engine and at the end, they tied us to another boat and pulled us back to the shore. We had to breath the smoke for 1hr from the boat towing us. That was the whole dhow trip!!
Completely unprofessional driver (Smoking inside the dhow)
No snorkeling
No dolphin watch
No swimming or stopping at the island
No tour guide
At the end, when i asked for refund, the staff said the manager has gone, so i don't know anything. After driving 400kms from abudhabi, this experience was nothing short of a disaster.
My advice, don't ever try these guys, they are a complete failure. There are other good operators out there.

My friends and I purchased the dhow cruise and beach camping package with Khasab Sea Tours. Shanawar from KST was very helpful with confirming our booking at short notice and also providing information regarding the tour. We had a great time on the cruise - enjoying the view of the beautiful mountains in Musandam, watching dolphins, snorkeling and also camping at the beach for the night. The only gripe I have is that the dhow was not clean. But overall, KST organized a very memorable tour.

The Cruise itself and the service, the staff and the private boat for our family group of 8 was very good. We had a great time on board and the pick-up at the the cruise ship port was good as well. Everything was fine until we have been dropped us of at the same place where we startet the dhow cruise at the pier opposite the harbour of our ship. After we finished the tour there we walked up to the road, where the shuttle bus brought us in the morning. Unfortunately nobody was there - no shuttle bus, nobody from Khasab Tours was there and the staff from our dhow cruise disappeared. It is much too far to walk back to the ship and there are no taxis. When we discussed what to do, a man from another tour company came and we asked him for help. He made some phone calls for us to find out, what happened. He took care of us und drove us back to our ship in his own big car, which was very nice and friendly! I never heard from Khasab Tours what has happened and why they did not dropped us off near our cruise ship or why there was no shuttle back to the ship from the dhow port. We were lucky to meet somebody, who took care of us instead - otherwise we would have had a big problem to be back on time before our soon departure time of the ship!

When my parents and three siblings came to visit (I work in UAE), we went out for a day dhow cruise to snorkel and see dolphins and Khasab Sea Tours did not disappoint! We were on a dhow from 9a-4pm and saw dolphins several times, had three snorkeling stops, and a great lunch served on board. My younger sister and mom both said this was the best part of their trip (which included all of Abu Dhabi, Dubai). Highly highly recommend - short car trip from Dubai to Khasab and this is easily the best day trip activity to do while visiting Dubai or UAE. Oman is so beautiful and the best way to get a taste is with a dhow cruise in Khasab/Musandam. Highly highly recommend!

Duration of stay: 27 July 2016 (half day tour)
Booking process and check-in/check-out: By e-mail, contact first through the Tripadvisor website. Efficient and quick to respond.
Transport arrival/departure: We were picked right on time at the Jumeirah Beach Hotel early in the morning. Two stops at the UAE and Omani border, where you have to get out of the car (and can use the toilet facilities). Our suggestion is to bring your breakfast and lunch if you are on the half day tour, as there a literally no facilities to buy this on the way or at the port.
Description: We had the dhow to ourselves, this being the low season. There was a cooler with plenty of soft drinks and good selection of fruits. Changing facilities were basically the toilet, so it would be better to already have your swimming gear on if you plan to do the snorkelling part. Snorkel and goggles were provided. Water near Telegraph Island was clear.
Other remarks/Conclusion:
Having already visited Oman on a previous holiday, we sort of knew what to expect in terms of scenery. I would recommend the half-day tour. The full day tour does not seem to offer a lot extra (except for lunch).
Note: I only award 5 stars if I feel the quality/price ratio is excellent

We arranged this via email and arranged to be picked up at our hotel. The bus arrived on time and we made the short journey to the dhow. Once there we had a choice of fins and masks at an extra charge but we had our own.
We headed out with a small group of around 20 which was fine as the dhow was large so plenty of space . There is carpeting and pillows in traditional design all over the deck as well as plenty of shade.
Drinks and fruit were on constant offer and we started the cruise out with a commentary in good English from one of the Khasab hosts.
The fjords were spectacular! Beautiful views and we were blessed with having dolphins swim alongside the boat. This was just incredible and an amazing experience we will never forget.
There were two stops for snorkeling on the trip. Both of which offered great views of coral and fish. I was lucky enough to swim with a large Wray and the kids were overjoyed to watch clown fish.
The lunch on board was great with plenty of it.
Overall we had a fantastic experience and I would highly recommend the day tour and company.
