This museum was extremely interesting going back over a long period. I am not sure what started Swakopmund but probably mining but it was interesting seeing how the first pier was built and the hazardous journeys bringing in all the equipment. Amazing what clothes the...More

A lovely museum. The sections take you back into Namibia's History and other Namibian topics. My young Nephew and Niece love this place as it is compiled with so much love and detail. Highly recommended for families or also if you are on your own.

The museum is surprisingly large with a good selection of items and several different subject matters from archaeology, to the indigenous peoples to the colonialist settlers, well worth the modest entrance fee of $30. I was surprised to see PC 3.5 inch 'stiffie' diskettes and...More

The museum is well stocked, and worth a visit. The display range covers archeology, wars, Namibian people, wild life, German artifacts, sea creatures, etc. I missed pre-colonial life coverage. Hope as the museum improves, this will be prioritised.

I forget how much local Namibian dollars but it is less than five Australian dollars so not much. It has a lot of interesting stuff to see and worth a visit. You need to spend at least an hour there to see everything
