The original Living Desert/Little 5 Tour! 08h00 to 13h30 from Swakopmund in our 4x4's: we go into the dune/gravel plains area to track the little creatures - snakes, chameleons, geckoes, lizards, scorpions, insects, etc - and also give info on the desert in general, the area's plants and minerals. Dune drive through to the sea. Scenic and educational.

Our group thoroughly enjoyed the desert excursion. Tommy has a great passion for the desert and a vast knowledge about the living creatures within. His assistant (Chantelle?) has the most amazing tracking skills which we were fortunate to witness. I heard that Tommy does a couple of trips a month with children from schools in the area and he does... More

I cannot rate this experience highly enough. We were a mixed group made of grandparents, forty somethings, twenty year olds teenagers and young children. Tommy inspired each and every one of us and captured the heart of the desert for us. We heard, saw and touched the incredible Eco system that makes up this unique part of the earth. Tommy... More

Tommy is one of those guides who loves what he does and his passion for the small creatures of the desert is something he likes to share. Tommy is that barefoot guy who is so close to nature that nature comes to him. We were able to take wonderful photographs of small desert creatures and if you are into photography... More

Me and my son went on a tour with Tommy. What an amazing experience it was. Tommy knows his subject so well and with a lot of humor and understanding of what he is doing I personally thinks that he is the best. Driving away in one of the Land Rovers into the desert is a wonderful way for a... More

This is a 4X4 experience into the Great Namib Desert. I want to thank Tommy for introducing us to the desert and the interesting creatures that call it home. Tommy finds poisonous snakes and then picks them up, bare handed, as if they were a house pet. It is clear he loves the desert and all the living plants and... More

This is a must have experience when you are in Swakopmund. Tommy is absolutely passionate about the living desert and has the knack to really make the desert open like a book and with it your eyes and other senses. Highly recommended.

Tommy’s “Living Desert” tour was definitely one of the high points of our trip to Namibia, I would recommend this to anyone staying in the area. Truly a tour that will stay with you for the rest of your life, the famous Tommy Collard and his assistant Andrew gave us an insight into the Namib desert that none of us... More

This tour by Tommy and his team is simply unbelievable. Tommy's knowledge of the local ecology and diversity is something to behold. A born communicator and in particular his ability to communicate with all types at all different levels particularly with children is not only educational but pure entertainment. Tommy and his team found snakes, lizards buried some 8-10 inches... More
